Something had gone wrong. I could feel it in the sudden staleness of the air. When I stepped into the arena for my training with Cyrus, all the Scions were present—except for my trainer for the day.
I stopped short of stepping through the threshold while they watched me. An eerie wariness clung to their faces. Even without walking through the door, the stifled atmosphere of dread was palpable. I steeled myself and dared to close the distance, bowing before them.
"There is much to discuss," Zayne's voice broke the silence.
"And you are going to need to sit for this," Kaleb added.
"It's urgent," Rafayel urged, his voice hard, stripped of all the levity from yesterday.
