The valley did not wake all at once.
First came the birds.

They were still beneath the tree.
The traveler was sleeping nearby.
The old journal rested between them.
For a moment—
Everything felt exactly the same.
Then the child noticed something.
A path.
There had always been one path leading toward the pond.
But now—
There were three.
The emotional resonance spread gently through every connected world.
The child stood.
"…That's new."
The traveler woke immediately.
"What happened?"
The child pointed.
Three paths stretched beyond the hill.
One traveled east.
One traveled west.
The third disappeared straight into the distant mist.
None had been there yesterday.
The traveler slowly stood.
"…Which one should we take?"
The child looked at the paths.
Then at Echo.
Echo stood silently beneath the little tree.
