Quinlan dashed forward with his scythe aimed for his throat only to be blocked by a shield and forced to push backward to avoid the man's mace.
"Get the rabbit." Quinlan told his subordinates
The leader frowned as swung the mace into the ground. The blow shook all the earth around them but Quinlan made a wall of black aura to force the attack to halt. He shot forward black energy elongating his blade and sliced into the air.
A black line advanced rapidly and the leader's shield wrapped in his golden-white aura protected his members. Quinlan felt that odd feeling again, wanting to fight more and release a bit more of his power.
Everything around him was dying due to him, even the soil was turning ashen as though nutrients were being striped out and his reserve were recovering just as quick. Quinlan shifted his grip on his weapon and let gloomy soulless eyes turned serious
The vice of Quinlan's combat team grabbed the rabbit beastman and ran way as quickly as his could when he noticed the change in his demeanor. The Golden Crown tried to advance but another black line burnt itself into the ground.
"You'll need to get past me if you want it." Quinlan spoke in a clear cold tone "Which you won't"
Quinlan jumped into the air and sliced downward. The leader blocked the attack as usual and turned to his men.
"Retreat, I cover you." he spoke
Quinlan frowned as he pulled out more power from his large reserve and purple mist moved out of him. The leader quickly tried to protect him subordinates but Quinlan's mist was far too ruthless as it sucked their energy back to him.
He advanced and collided with the leader's mace again. This time he didn't fight the thought erupting through his veins and had strength into his weapon but his shield slammed into him. Quinlan held his ground even as the non-familiar ache of pain grew unbearable.
"Why did you do that." the leader, Roman asked with vicious eyes
Quinlan spoke, "I simply got rid of a threat to my family. If you have a problem you should have protected them."
The young man created distance and fired several black lines toward the Pioneer. Quinlan's black energy spread outward in search of life as animal skeletons pulled themselves out of the area that was lifeless.
Roman's raised his shield and bashed his mace into the ground. This time the a burst of bright golden-white light rushed outward and the skeletons screamed as they were burnt up. Although Quinlan appeared in his blind spot and saw the tip of his scythe near his eyes.
The Pioneer pulled his back, he felt it rip a line from his cheek across his lips to his chin before he managed to concentrate his energy into his shield and bash the man away. Blood dripped down as he was slightly thankful for the black attire he wore as he let out a roar up into the night sky.
Quinlan felt his senses tangle up, his ear rang and the sights became blurry. The spike mace fell on him with killing intent as Quinlan thought of what to do.
Oddly Valentine voice echoed in the back of his mind, " How we manage in the situation where we were at a disadvantage? Follow your instinct obviously, your body already knows more than you give it credit. Listen here, Lan. When your back is against you wall don't think and simply move."
He pushed his body to the left and the mace ripped the skin on his side as he raised his scythe in a direction he believed Roman was. Quinlan didn't stop, he advanced the moment he figured out his location and their weapons collided again sending out a soundwave.
Quinlan's black energy forced the wolf skeletons out of the soil to snap at the person's leg. He felt the skill's debuff was slowly coming undone. He didn't give Roman any breathing room slicing his weapon and he felt the weapon connect with his mace, or his shield but sometimes he managed to injury him.
More energy channeled into his scthye as he felt in that moment that this attack would end it and maybe Roman could feel it too. He disregard defense and his mace greeted his skin ruthlessly but the man refused to back down and pushed forward with intent.
Quinlan broke the mace before it hit his shoulder and redirected it toward the location that was the neck.....
CRACK
The scythe crumpled under the intensity of Quinlan's energy. Roman to this moment to hit him with his barely intact shield. Quinlan's senses returned and he looked at the sorry state that the Pioneer was in as he tucked in his tail and ran leaving the bodies of his subordinates.
"Hypocrite." Quinlan spoke letting the wind carry it toward Roman "You can run but you're my prey and I'll find you."
Roman ran fast even as his wounds begged him to stop. He felt fear, when he takes his enemy's sense they usually fall apart but this one bit back at him and it almost cost him his life. Even when the young man's cold black eyes were out of sight the Pioneer ran until he reached the safe house for him and his team.
Quinlan watched the scene with a sigh and the seriousness slipped out like a mirage. His soullessness eyes returned and he walked away from the wreckage. Sixty eight percent of the forest had withered away while the other have was destroyed by blows from the mace.
When it was discovered everyone blamed it on the villains that were attack and locked their doors tightly in fear. Meanwhile Quinlan walked into Vladimir's office and the scent of blood, sweat and death followed him in.
"Yes? Shouldn't you be in surgery, Lan?" Vladimir asked without looking up from his documents
Quinlan asked, "How did you know it was me?"
"Smell. You have this thick death and gloom air about you but currently its tainted by your injuries. The person who did this will need to be dealt with. I'll ask someone to handle it." Vladimir spoke
Quinlan refused, "I'll handle him myself but may I have the coward's information."
A tiny humanoid figure flew toward him with a large folder, inside were Roman's picture as well as all sorts of information. Vladimir sensed that Quinlan what to say more so he raised his head.
"Valentine says your better at 'following your instinct', please teach me." Quinlan spoke with worry laced in his words "I'll do-"
Vladimir snorted, "Is that all? Of course I'll teach you. I thought is was something like a health condition, go get better and come back whenever, I'll teach you how ocean animal manage to survive."
He turned his gaze back to his papers grumbling that Quinlan was causing him unneeded worry when the paperwork seemed to increase and never decrease no matter what he does. Quinlan looked at him with surprise and a warm smile spread on his face as he left.
Vladimir looked at his ringing phone and answered it.
"Killian?" he sighed
Stephan's voice echoed in, "Vladimir, let's make a deal. I have something you want."
"You have my attention, make it worth it." Vladimir answered.
