"You give me a place within House Atreides... I can be very useful,"
"I was in charge of three Sardaukar battalions that had come here in cooperation with the Harkonnens, so I am capable," Cova said, seriously staring at Duke Leto.
Leto was silent for many moments.
Within the observational room, Jessica's eyes narrowed slightly.
'This just got super interesting,' Jack thought to himself with a small smile on his face.
His eyes glancing toward Jessica for a moment.
Thufir did not move, but his eyes flickered white for a moment.
"Your offer will be considered." Duke Leto said before the hologram cut.
Silence followed.
All eyes turned to Leto.
"He can be very useful now that Gurney is injured," Jack said, breaking the silence.
Thufir was silent for a moment before he nodded in agreement.
"With him, we will be able to implement some training methods used by Sardaukar as well as his knowledge of Sardaukar equipment," Thufir said.
"We cannot grant him his request without confirming his information," Leto said, glancing at Thufir, his eyes then landing on Jessica.
"Thufir"
"Can Jessica use The Voice to extract a confession?" Leto asked, glancing at Thufir.
"It is possible, so far all attempts of using The Voice on Sardaukar prisoners have failed because of their conditioning, but the man in there broke through that conditioning to confess to you, my lord," Thufir said.
"Jessica," Leto said as he glanced at her.
In response, she nodded.
...
Many moments passed as Jessica was standing in front of the gate with two guards behind her.
In the viewing room, Thufir, Leto, Yueh and Jack were watching in silence.
Outside.
Jessica took a deep breath and pushed the door open, revealing Cova staring at her.
His eyes were slightly dim.
"You are... Lady Jessica" Cova muttered.
Jessica quietly nodded.
She walked into the room with the two guards following closely behind her.
With a few steps forward, she seated herself on the chair opposite Cova.
A moment of silence stretched as Cova stared at her, and Jessica quietly observed him.
"Drop your mental defences," Jessica said placing her hand on the table.
"Calm your mind," She said softly.
Cova quietly nodded.
He shut his eyes for a few moments, his body relaxing on the chair.
Many moments passed before he opened his eyes slightly.
"I am ready" he muttered before he shut his eyes.
Jessica nodded and opened her mouth.
"Tell me everything you know about the Attack on House Atreides," Jessica said using The Voice.
The frequency traveled through the air and reached Cova's ears.
Cova's jaw tightened.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then.
His shoulders dropped.
His eyes opened, they were very dull as he stared at Jessica.
A moment of silence passed before Cova began to explain everything, from the emperor's orders reaching the Sardaukar to Baron Harkonnen's failure and finally the moment he was attacked.
He narrated everything.
"Thufir... are you recording this?" Leto slowly asked, his tone tinged with shock and disbelief.
He couldn't believe it.
With Cova alone testifying against the Harkonnens and Emperor Shaddam, the two would be crushed.
Duke Leto had just been hand-delivered a smoking gun by the very enemy he would use it against to bury them.
"My lord... The camera is recording" Thufir replied, his tone equally filled with astonishment.
"Good..." Leto muttered.
Leto didn't move.
He watched the man for a moment longer.
Then he turned.
He walked towards the door and exited the observation cove, quickly heading to the door beside it.
Opening it.
The sound of the door clicking open snapped Cova out of his daze Jessica had put him in.
"We agree, we will provide you a life within House Atreides as long as you agree to testify as you did just moments ago at Landsraad," Leto said, "House Atreides on its honour ensures your protection." Leto said.
Cova smiled softly and nodded.
Jack glanced towards Jessica with a small frown. He turned to Thufir.
"Thufir," Jack called out to him.
He leaned closer to Thufir's ear.
"Maybe we should not put our eggs all in one basket," Jack muttered.
Thufir was silent for a moment before he nodded.
"Yes, Interrogations will continue," Thufir muttered to Jack.
Jack nodded and continued watching as Jessica and Leto exited the room together, meanwhile the guards inside untied Cova's restraints.
Outside.
Leto glanced at Jessica.
"My dear," he said with a soft smile appearing on his face.
"I see a grand future for House Atreides," Duke Leto said.
Jessica nodded with a smile.
Leto hummed and began walking towards the staircase to exit the interrogation floor, feeling light as air at this moment.
As soon as Leto turned around, her smile faded.
She watched in seriousness as Leto walked away.
"I am afraid..." Jessica said quietly
"The Bene Gesserit will not want for this to happen, my love," she muttered solemnly.
...
Jessica was currently in her room.
Sitting on a chair with her eyes closed.
'If Cova is allowed to be presented... Emperor Shaddam and his reign will be severely impacted, he potentially can lose his imperial power' Jessica thought to herself.
'The order, Bene Gesserit relies on will be severely disrupted.' Jessica thought to herself as she let out a sigh.
'The control Bene Gesserit has, that maintains the carefully constructed balance with the support from the emperor, will be lost. The breeding program and all its assets will be put in harm's way when the chaos unfolds...
Paul will be put in harm's way...' Jessica thought to herself as her eyes snapped open.
A frown was prominent on her face.
'If I contact Reverend Mother about Cova, she is going to task me to kill him. Spies belonging to the Emperor and other houses are very sparse and aren't in positions to get close to Cova.'
'It will have to be me...' Jessica thought to herself.
She felt a lump forming in her throat.
'But what if... in the chaos...' The thought appeared in her mind, entailing with it the possibilities.
Her right hand covered her face, 'What do I do...' She thought to herself with her eyes shut.
Her left hand gently resting on her belly, "Tell me child... what do I do?" She muttered but received no answer.
Removing her hand from her face she glanced at her stomach, her eyes conflicted.
