Nine minutes later, Marcus was flying at an altitude of 3,000 feet at a cruising speed. And from the horizon, he could see now the outline of the walls of the city of Berm.
He glanced over his shoulder and saw the girls losing vitality by the seconds. They really need medical attention as soon as possible. But first, he has to land. And it is surefire that whoever witnessed him flying a helicopter would react.
He couldn't care less about it. He just needs these girls to be brought inside the city as fast as possible.
Marcus adjusted the collective slightly, easing the helicopter lower while keeping his speed steady. The walls of Berm grew clearer by the second, the stone towers rising above the surrounding land like a fixed line on the horizon. From this height, he could already see movement along the top of the walls—guards.
They had noticed him.
Of course they did.
A flying machine cutting across the sky wasn't something they could ignore.
