[Jake's POV]
The heavy oak doors of the Lotus Lounge closed behind us, shutting out the faint hum of the casino floor. The sound cut off like a blade. One second it was there — chips, voices, the low buzz of money moving — and the next, silence.
We stepped into a private elevator lined with brushed steel and mirrored glass. The walls reflected Evelyn Jin from three angles, and every reflection looked bored. Evelyn Jin inserted a sleek black keycard into the panel, and the car began a smooth, silent ascent to the top of the Grand Azure.
She stood perfectly still, her posture impeccable, her eyes fixed on the changing floor numbers above the door. She didn't attempt to make small talk.
"Overwatch," I murmured, keeping my voice so low it wouldn't register over the faint hum of the elevator shaft. "Status."
