Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 – The Enemy Inside

The rain didn't stop that night.

It hit the windows in uneven rhythms, filling the silence between everyone in the room.

No one spoke immediately after Chen Hao's words.

"I think someone inside your family is helping them."

Because once something like that was said—

It couldn't be taken back.

The Realization

Li Wei stood completely still.

"…Who?" he asked quietly.

Chen Hao shook his head.

"I don't know yet."

He pushed the papers forward across the table.

"But these movements don't make sense otherwise."

Lin Meiyu stepped closer, reading over the documents again.

"…He's right."

Li Wei's gaze sharpened slightly.

"You noticed something too?"

She nodded.

"These attacks only happen after internal meetings."

The room went cold.

Yulan felt it immediately.

This wasn't outside pressure anymore.

Someone close to Li Wei was leaking information.

A Dangerous Possibility

Li Wei leaned back slowly.

Thinking.

Too calm again.

That usually meant he was angry.

"…My uncle," he said finally.

Chen Hao blinked.

"That was fast."

Li Wei's expression stayed unreadable.

"He handles most of the company's private movement schedules."

Lin Meiyu frowned slightly.

"But accusing him directly would start a war inside your family."

"I know."

And somehow—

That answer felt worse.

Yulan Sees the Weight

For the first time, Yulan fully understood something:

Li Wei wasn't just trapped by family expectations.

He was trapped inside a system where one mistake could destroy everything around him.

Including himself.

The New Plan

"We need proof," Lin Meiyu said.

Chen Hao pointed immediately.

"Great. Awesome. Love that. How exactly?"

Li Wei looked toward the rain-covered window.

"…Someone needs to follow the next meeting."

Silence.

Then everyone realized what he meant.

Absolutely Not

"No."

Yulan answered instantly.

Li Wei looked at him.

"You don't even know what I was going to say."

"You were going to involve yourself directly."

A pause.

"…So no."

Chen Hao nodded immediately.

"Actually, for once, I agree with him."

Li Wei exhaled slowly.

"…I can handle myself."

Yulan's voice sharpened slightly.

"That's not the point anymore."

The Cracks Widen

Li Wei looked at him carefully.

"…You think I'm being reckless."

"I think," Yulan said quietly, "you keep acting like only your life gets affected by your decisions."

That landed harder than expected.

Even Chen Hao went silent.

Private Confrontation

Later that night, after Lin Meiyu and Chen Hao finally went downstairs—

The room upstairs became quiet again.

Too quiet.

Li Wei stood near the window once more.

Yulan watched him for a long moment before speaking.

"…You really were going to go alone."

Li Wei didn't deny it.

"Yes."

Yulan laughed softly under his breath.

Not because it was funny.

Because he was frustrated.

"…You're impossible."

The Emotional Truth

Li Wei turned toward him.

His voice was lower now.

"…If something happens to you because of me—"

"It already has," Yulan interrupted.

Silence.

Yulan stepped closer.

"…I'm already involved, Li Wei."

Closer.

"…You don't get to decide when I stop caring."

Li Wei's composure cracked slightly at that.

Just slightly.

But enough.

The Dark Intimacy Returns

"You should hate me for this," Li Wei murmured.

Yulan shook his head slowly.

"…That would be easier."

Something in Li Wei's expression shifted again.

That dangerous softness.

That look that only appeared when he was close to losing control completely.

He reached out—

His hand resting lightly against Yulan's jaw.

"…You keep staying anyway."

Yulan's breath caught slightly.

"…So do you."

That ended whatever distance remained.

Intense Kiss Scene

Li Wei kissed him suddenly.

Deep.

Immediate.

Not rushed—

But overwhelming.

The kind of kiss filled with too many unsaid things.

Fear.

Relief.

Wanting.

Yulan grabbed the front of his shirt tightly as Li Wei pulled him closer, their breathing uneven almost instantly.

The tension between them had changed now.

It wasn't only romance anymore.

It felt like holding onto each other before something broke.

Li Wei's hand slid into Yulan's hair slightly, keeping him close as the kiss deepened again—

Slow enough to feel everything.

Dangerous enough to forget everything else.

When they finally separated, neither moved far.

Foreheads touching.

Breathing heavy.

The Almost Confession

"…If this gets worse," Li Wei whispered quietly, "I may have to disappear for a while."

Yulan froze instantly.

"…What?"

Li Wei closed his eyes briefly.

"I'm serious."

The room suddenly felt colder.

Downstairs – Chen Hao Knows

Chen Hao sat alone at the counter below.

Listening to the rain.

Then muttered quietly to himself:

"…Yeah."

"This is definitely going to hurt later."

Final Scene – The Enemy Revealed

Across the city—

Inside a dark office—

A man calmly placed down a photograph of Li Wei and Yulan together.

Another older man sat across from him.

Watching silently.

Then—

The older man smiled faintly.

"…So the heir finally found something worth threatening him with."

The photograph remained on the table.

Directly under a single name written in ink:

Yulan.
