At home, Luca put down his phone and asked Matilda with a smile, "The Asian food tonight isn't spicy, is it? What do you think of the taste?"
Matilda licked her lips and replied, "Great! I didn't know Asian food could be this good, especially this sweet and sour pork. It's so delicious—sweet and sour!"
Shortly afterward, just as the two were enjoying their meal, another phone call came in. It was Jimmy.
"Luca! Henry is dead!"
"Wait?" Luca asked in 'shock'. "How did he die?"
Jimmy hesitated before answering. "He was arrested by the police for drug trafficking, and it seems he was beaten to death by them. I don't know the exact details. His wife told me."
"Didn't I warn him to stop dealing drugs?"
"…"
"Jimmy, were you involved?"
"No, I promise. If you tell me not to touch it, I won't! I'm sorry. I tried to persuade Henry, but he wouldn't listen."
"This isn't your fault; he brought it upon himself. Jimmy, you've always been lucky. The police haven't caught you."
Luca silently curled the corners of his mouth.
After leaving the bar that day, he had called Leon and asked him to keep an eye on Henry—first, to confirm whether Henry continued dealing drugs, and second, to be prepared to eliminate him at any time to prevent future trouble.
Henry had been warned to give up the drug business, but he was outwardly compliant and inwardly defiant. He had never abandoned his original intentions to make money out of drugs. In that case, there was nothing else Luca could do.
Henry could not be allowed to get caught. His mouth was loose, and that shameless scoundrel would absolutely betray his own family to save himself. Luca refused to let events unfold according to that script, so he did not even give Henry the opportunity to enter witness protection.
As for Jimmy, although he had been imprisoned multiple times, he had never betrayed the family. Luca planned to continue observing him.
In the Mafia, being arrested is not necessarily important. The family will bail you out if possible. If the sentence is too severe and release is unlikely in the short term, the family will take care of your household so you have no worries. The premise, however, is simple: you must keep your mouth shut. Betrayal is unacceptable. Otherwise, execution is considered the better option. Hiding in prison would only result in an even faster death.
The following morning, at the New York Police Department, William Somerset and David Mills unexpectedly received a new case report—another sniper incident.
The previous two victims had been an artist and a stockbroker. This time, it was a drug dealer.
"Somerset, do you think it's related to the previous sniping case?" David asked.
He analyzed Henry's file for a long time but could not find any connection between Henry and the previous victims. Henry was merely a associate member of the Lucchese family and had no direct link to the first two targets. Moreover, when the first two victims died, they had both been on the phone. Henry was not.
William shook his head. "Last night's sniping case isn't our responsibility. Don't meddle in someone else's case."
He was close to retirement and did not want unnecessary trouble. He only wanted to finish the two assassination cases currently on his desk.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
On a bright and sunny morning, Luca attended Henry's funeral alongside Marigio, Jimmy, and many official members and associates of the Mafia. Such funerals were commonplace. Members died frequently. Luca had once set a record of attending fifteen funerals in a single month, and ironically, some of those funerals had been for men he personally killed.
At the funeral, Luca met Pauli Cicero.
As Henry's boss, Pauli showed no sadness while standing before the tombstone. His expression suggested that he had long anticipated Henry's fate. Perhaps Henry's death was the best outcome—for him and for the family.
Pauli placed a bouquet of flowers, offered a few quiet words, and left.
Luca initially wanted to approach him and build a stronger connection, but seeing Pauli's gloomy expression, he decided against it.
Marigio watched Pauli's departing figure and said to Luca, "The officer in charge that night was Roberts. You know how sensitive that guy is. It was only a matter of time before that idiot Henry was caught. I guess Pauli anticipated it and sent someone to clean him up."
"It was definitely an assassin," Luca agreed. "Pauli had the motive. Everyone knows he hates people around him dealing drugs."
He was quite satisfied that the blame had naturally shifted elsewhere.
Let Pauli take it.
Being blamed is far better than being betrayed and sent to prison.
Now that Henry—the shameless traitor waiting to happen—was gone, Luca had one less concern. He could focus on more important matters, such as opening his club or dealing with the police officer Ricky Roberts.
Luca already knew of him.

Richie was one of the key figures who later won the drug war in New York. He led a special narcotics task force that captured the Harlem Drug Kingpin, Frank and turned him into a cooperating witness. He then imprisoned three-quarters of the narcotics officers to the Jail, causing a major reshuffle in both the NYPD and the DEA.
In other words, even if Stansfield had not died at Luca's hands, he would have eventually been imprisoned by Richie.
At present, however, Richie was only an ordinary police officer. He did not appear to have been recruited by the DEA's higher-ups yet. The DEA typically handles large-scale and transnational drug cases, targeting major drug lords, while city police officers focus on street-level enforcement.
Richie had not yet joined the DEA, which meant there was still some buffer time before the coming storm.
Luca would not mind helping him. A major event like that could bring generous system rewards.
Moreover, Richie's skills were highly useful.
One skill helps gain the trust of officials. The other helps gain the trust of criminals.
Both were excellent.
For now, Luca only needed to consider the first half of Honesty. The second half was not immediately useful. How could a Mafia member hand over embezzled funds without exposing himself? That would be equivalent to confessing to illegal income.
Even so, the first portion of the skill was extremely attractive.
In exchange for system rewards and skills, Luca was perfectly willing to help Richie win the drug war and send Frank to prison.
As for Frank's skills—Cross-border Transportation reduces the probability of official inspections when transporting drugs, and Corruption Infiltration increases trust when bribing officials.
Luca no longer touched drugs, making the first skill useless to him. The second was acceptable, but in America, most problems could already be solved with money. Besides, Corruption Infiltration required a Close Friend bond, and Luca had no intention of befriending a ruthless drug lord capable of killing his own siblings.
Therefore, Luca had little interest in Frank skills. That man would end up in prison sooner or later. If Luca did not need Frank alive to dismantle the New York DEA and secure greater system rewards, he might have preferred to assassinate him directly.
After the funeral, at 3:30 p.m., Luca drove back to Manhattan to pick up his newfound younger sister from school.
"Luca!" Matilda excitedly climbed into the passenger seat. Seeing that the seat was perfectly adjusted to her height, she smiled widely. "Today I taught a girl who used to bully me a lesson. It felt so satisfying!"
"Oh? How did you manage that?"
"I told them my brother is Mafia. They stopped immediately and even called me 'Bos' asking me to introduce them to you."
"…."
So this is how my Mafia name is being used.
Luca opened the system panel and checked the notifications.

Well, perhaps this method was not entirely bad—as long as the school did not summon parents. Luca had no interest in listening to teachers lecture him.
"Luca!" Matilda exclaimed. "I'm really looking forward to the weekend. I want to experience Mafia life!"
Luca nodded with satisfaction. "Alright. I'll teach you things school never can."
He was very patient when playing house with children.
However, before he could play house with Matilda, he first encountered a group of police officers staging their own dramatic performance.
On their way home, passing through Times Square in Manhattan, they saw a large police operation blocking the road. Crowds and reporters gathered outside the cordon. Snipers occupied surrounding rooftops.
Question marks appeared simultaneously on Luca's and Matilda's faces.
What was happening?
Although New York was filled with arson, robbery, and murder, and sirens echoed nightly through Manhattan, such a large-scale operation in Times Square was rare.
Luca leaned out the window and looked ahead.
Inside a phone booth stood a man holding a receiver, his face pale and panicked as he spoke.
