Seraphina's POV
The ritual chamber falls silent.
Lucien's hands tremble as he guides her to the center of the circle. The ancient markings on the floor begin to glow. Soft at first, then brighter. Seraphina's heart beats faster. This is it. The moment that changes everything.
"I'm scared," she whispers.
"I know," Lucien says. He cups her face. "But I'm here. I won't leave you."
He guides her wrist to his mouth. His fangs extend. Silver eyes meet hers one last time as a human. Then he bites.
The venom hits and it's not pain yet. It's fire. Pure fire running through her veins like liquid lightning.
"Breathe," Lucien says. "Just breathe."
But breathing makes it worse. Each breath pulls the venom deeper. It spreads through her chest, her arms, her legs. Seraphina gasps and her knees buckle.
Lucien catches her. He carries her to the center of the ritual circle and lays her down on the stone. The markings on the floor pulse with light.
