"This..."
"You cannot be serious..."
"Impossible. I must be seeing things."
Everyone present stared, frozen, at the wooden sword floating quietly in the air beside Kaito.
This world had its share of remarkable things. The dark elf domain. The healing abilities granted through baptism. All the flying vessels that sailed the Seas of Ena on Ahou technology.
But no one had ever seen a person directly control an object through their own power alone.
"Haruki-sensei, how did you do that?!"
Aura stepped forward, eyes wide.
"How did I do it? Want to learn?"
As he spoke, Kaito sent the wooden sword circling lazily around himself.
"Wait — Haruki-sensei, you are not actually going to teach us that, are you?!"
Kaito's grin widened.
"Dream on!"
"What!"
"That is not fair!"
A wave of groans swept across the training ground.
Good heavens. If you were not going to teach it, why ask?
"You have not even learned to walk, and you want to run. Before any of you can attempt what I just did, you would at least need to reach this level."
Kaito closed his fingers around the floating sword, raised it, and swept it in a single casual arc toward the large stone sculpture standing at the far end of the ground.
A golden blade of sword qi cut across the distance. Everything in its path was crushed flat. The stone sculpture exploded into fragments the instant it was touched.
Silence.
The entire training ground had gone completely still. Everyone was staring at the ruin of the sculpture and the long scar carved into the earth behind it.
Then, all at once:
"Incredible!"
"Sugoi!"
"Haruki-sensei is in a different league entirely!"
"This... this is simply unreal."
A Seikijin could also shatter stone. But that was borrowed force from a machine. What they had just witnessed was something coming directly from a person. Who would not want that?
"So. Do you understand now? This is nothing remarkable in itself, but if you want to learn to control a weapon through your own power, you would at least need to reach this standard first."
Kaito said this with the air of someone describing something mildly inconvenient, like a slightly longer walk than expected.
The teachers and students looking at him did not share this assessment.
"I wonder, would it be possible for us to also learn from you, Haruki-sensei?"
Mexiah stepped out from the crowd with a warm smile.
Hearing this, the other students turned toward Kaito with the same hopeful expression.
"If you want to learn, then learn. It is not as if it is anything impressive."
In truth, what Kaito had demonstrated was a fairly simple application of magic power. As for where that came from, well, how could a Golden Immortal fail to analyse something as straightforward as this world's energy systems? He had chosen magic power over spiritual power specifically because he was not confident this world could handle the latter.
"Really? Wonderful!"
"Long live Haruki-sensei!"
"Yukine, we should go down as well. We cannot miss this."
Maria said this with genuine urgency, already moving. Yukine nodded quietly beside her, her gaze on Kaito full of admiration.
"Hmph hmph! Maria. Kaito is my Senior Personal Advisor, you know. How does that feel?"
Lashara could not help herself.
"Hmph! You simply got lucky. I am going to extend an invitation to Mr. Kaito on behalf of my country right now. By the time I am done, you will not even have had a chance to be upset about it."
Maria, expression set with purpose, took Yukine by the arm and walked over.
"You..."
Before Lashara could finish, they were already moving. She spun around.
"Hmph. I will not let that happen. Kenshi, Chiaia, with me!"
"Yes, Princess Lashara!"
They surged forward. Seeing the crowd forming, Kaito raised his voice.
"To achieve what I did, you must first understand what magic power is."
"Magic power? I have never heard of it. I only know Ahou."
"Same. I have no idea what that is."
Aura raised her hand. "Haruki-sensei, none of us have heard of a power called magic power."
Kaito smiled.
"Of course not. There are only two people in this entire world who possess it."
"Two people? Haruki-sensei is one. Who is the other?"
Kaito stepped back a few paces, stopped at Sakuya's side, and tilted his head toward her.
"Her."
"A maid?"
"She is extraordinarily beautiful. I had not really looked at her before."
"She carries herself like she outranks everyone here."
Sakuya listened to the murmurs around her. She gathered her skirt slightly and gave a composed curtsy.
"Greetings, everyone. I am Izayoi Sakuya, Master's exclusive maid."
"Greetings, Miss Izayoi Sakuya!"
The students bowed back without hesitation.
Maid or not, she possessed magic power. That alone commanded respect. And upsetting Sakuya meant upsetting Kaito. The students of Holy Land Academy had not gotten this far by being dense.
"Ahem. Going forward, Izayoi Sakuya will be responsible for teaching you all what magic power is."
With that, Kaito produced a beach chair from somewhere unreasonable, settled into it, and closed his eyes.
Expecting the founder of the Do-Nothing Organisation to do any actual teaching was clearly asking too much.
Sakuya, equally unhurried, produced a small table and arranged food and drinks on it with practiced ease.
The entire training ground stared at the two of them.
Were they reincarnations of Doraemon? Where were those items coming from?
...Who is Doraemon?
Also, the ease of those movements made it very clear this was not the first time they had done this.
Sakuya finished arranging the table, turned around, and regarded everyone present with a calm, serious expression.
"Since Master has given the instruction, I will teach you what magic power is."
"Magic power is..."
The students straightened up at once and listened with complete attention.
Whenever a question arose, hands shot up immediately.
Time moved forward to the rhythm of Sakuya's explanations and Kaito's steady, untroubled snoring.
By the time the sun had fully set, the students dispersed still hungry for more.
In the days that followed, Kaito brought Sakuya to teach every day and lived a thoroughly comfortable life.
Until...
