"As for the labor shortage, everyone can relax. I have a technology that can store real-world objects inside small capsules!"
"When you need to use something, you just press a button and whatever's inside comes right out!"
Rimuru, sitting beside him, immediately perked up and leaned forward.
"You're not talking about that, are you?"
Kaito nodded with certainty.
"That's right, it's that!"
"How on earth did you get that?!"
"Don't worry about how I got that. Just tell me, is it useful or not?"
"If it really is that, then it's incredibly useful!"
Everyone around them was thoroughly lost. What was that? Could someone please explain?
Kagaya, speaking on behalf of the group, finally asked:
"Kaito-sama, Rimuru-sama, what exactly is that you keep referring to? We're a little confused!"
The two stopped their coded exchange. Kaito explained.
"It's nothing too complicated, really. It's a spatial storage technology from another world."
"Like I said, this technology can compress all kinds of objects and seal them inside small capsules."
"So if we need buildings in the future, multi-story houses, warehouses, whatever, we can store pre-built structures from elsewhere inside these capsules."
"Then we release them wherever we need them, cutting out construction time entirely. The same goes for roads!"
Everyone's eyes lit up. This was an incredible find. With something like this, you could store anything. Goods, roads, and if you had enough capsules, you could carry an entire military base around in your pocket.
"This is truly amazing technology! As expected of Kaito-sama, to be able to produce something like this!"
Rigurd exclaimed with great excitement.
"Uh, it's not that amazing. I didn't invent it either!"
Kaito knew better than to take credit. Rimuru had watched Dragon Ball. She knew exactly who invented capsule technology, and she would call him out on the spot.
Kagaya thought it over carefully, then said:
"Then, Kaito-sama, are you planning to collect buildings from the children's world once the capsules are ready?"
He had already thought ahead to the buildings and roads sitting unused in the Black Bullet World. The Demon Slayer World had infrastructure too, but its technology level was far too low to be worth the effort right now. Better to let it develop first before thinking about it.
System: So you still have no intention of leaving it alone!
Seeing that Kagaya had read his mind, Kaito nodded.
"Exactly. That's the plan. This way, the labor problem gets solved completely!"
'Wait, something's off here. Oh no. I'm the one who has to research the capsules AND keep the Dimensional Gate running. When did I end up with this much to do?'
'This is rough. But what can I say.'
"Alright, the labor issue is sorted. Back to military matters. Fifty thousand personnel should be fine now, right?"
Everyone nodded in agreement. Kaito continued.
"Good. So who will serve as Legion Commander for each legion, and what will the unit compositions look like?"
Benimaru spoke up.
"If there are three legions, I can take the First Legion Commander position concurrently."
"For the Second Legion, I'd recommend Rengoku Kyojuro. He's been my deputy this whole time, and I'm confident he's more than capable."
"As for the Third Legion, Geld is fully qualified, even with his role heading the construction department. Day-to-day training can be handed off to his deputy without any issues."
"For the Imperial Guard Corps, I actually have someone in mind, though I'm not sure if you'll agree, Kaito-sama."
Kaito was curious.
"Who?"
Benimaru glanced past Kaito's shoulder, toward the composed figure standing behind him.
"Your head maid, Sakuya Izayoi-sama. Her strength speaks for itself, and her abilities are a perfect fit for the role."
The room understood immediately. Sakuya serving as commander of the Imperial Guard Corps made complete sense.
She was nominally a maid, but nobody in this city actually thought of her as just a maid. Everyone knew that Kaito and Rimuru feared nothing and no one, causing all manner of mischief around the city every single day. There was only one person they were careful around, and that was Sakuya, the woman who managed their daily lives.
Kaito thought it over, then turned around.
"Sakuya, would you be willing to take command of the Imperial Guard Corps?"
Sakuya gave a small bow.
"If it is what Master requires, then I will serve. I am at Master's disposal."
Kaito nodded.
"Alright then. You'll serve as commander of the Imperial Guard Corps. It's not as though you go out on missions regularly anyway, so the position suits you perfectly."
"As you wish. Then I accept."
Benimaru gave Sakuya a brief nod, then turned back to Kaito.
"Now that Sakuya-sama has accepted, the only thing left is the unit composition. Right now, the bulk of the forces are still Orc warriors."
"That said, quite a few monsters from the forest have joined us during this time, so we should be able to put together reasonably balanced units."
"My suggestion is that each legion consist of ten thousand Orc warriors, three thousand other monsters drawn from the forest races including the Ogres, and the remaining two thousand filled out by humans."
"What do you think, Kaito-sama?"
Kaito nodded in agreement.
Rimuru had been watching the two go back and forth, and something was nagging at her. Wasn't she the ruler? Why had nobody asked her a single thing about military matters?
"Um, I..."
Both of them looked over. Kaito asked, puzzled.
"What's wrong, Rimuru? Do you have any thoughts on this?"
"Uh, no, go ahead, you two. ╥﹏╥"
Rimuru deflated, realizing she had nothing to contribute. She already regretted opening her mouth. She should have just stayed quiet and enjoyed being a lazy bum...
