I didn't expect to see her again.
Amara walked into my office like nothing had changed.
"You look stronger," she said.
"I had to become."
She nodded slightly.
"I heard about your moves."
"That I survived?"
"That you adapted."
Silence sat between us.
Then she surprised me.
"You're not the same Lena anymore."
"No."
"Good."
That word carried weight.
"Are you here as friend or enemy?" I asked.
She smiled slightly.
"Observer."
That was more honest than friendship.
Before leaving she said something important:
"Someone is going to approach you soon."
"Who?"
"Someone your father feared."
That was the first time I heard fear connected to him.
And it worried me.
