My father's handwriting was unmistakable.
My chest tightened as I read.
"If you are reading this, things have already
gone wrong."
A chill ran down my spine.
"I made enemies you don't know about."
I kept reading faster.
"There is one man you must be careful of."
My heart pounded.
Victor.
The name was written clearly.
"He believes I destroyed him."
The room felt colder.
"But the truth is more complicated."
My hands shook.
"Someone inside the family helped cause it."
Inside the family?
My mind raced.
Did he mean Nora?
Or someone else?
Then I read the final line.
And my blood ran cold.
"Trust no one completely."
Because by now…
I already knew how dangerous that advice was.
