In this world…
a human is not defeated by a sword, nor broken by bullets, nor erased by time…
but is defeated… the moment their soul is taken while they are still alive.
There are moments…
silent, yet they destroy everything within us,
moments where we do not scream… because even the scream dies in our chest.
We believe pain is temporary…
that sorrow will pass like everything else,
but we fail to realize that some wounds…
never heal. They take root… and become part of who we are.
This chapter is not a love story that ended,
nor a simple tale of separation…
it is the moment a person dies…
without their heart ever stopping.
Here…
there is no hope…
no miracle…
only a cursed fate…
waiting to pass its judgment.
Chapter Nine: The Cursed Fate
(Some chapters are not written with ink… but with blood, the crushing of the soul, memories, and the heart)
When the doctor came out of the intensive care unit,
Sorin ran toward him like a madman.
"Doctor… please… tell me what is happening to Lyra!"
The doctor looked at Sorin, hesitating, not knowing what to say.
Sorin's anxiety grew, his voice trembling:
"Doctor, please… be honest with me… tell me what is happening!"
The doctor said:
"Lyra…"
He paused for a moment, then continued:
"Lyra… is suffering from liver cancer… in an advanced stage… and she cannot be saved… she only has one week left to live."
Sorin's eyes widened.
He could no longer feel his legs and fell to the ground.
Tears filled his eyes from the shock of what he heard.
He stood up with difficulty, his legs shaking:
"Doctor… are you serious? Or are you joking?
You must be joking… right? Maybe Lyra told you to say this…
Doctor, please… don't joke like this…"
The doctor held him and said:
"I'm sorry… but this is the bitter truth, my son."
Sorin pushed the doctor violently and fell into a hysterical state of laughing and crying at the same time.
He began smashing things in the hospital until they restrained him and injected him with a sedative.
After one hour…
Sorin woke up.
The doctors tried to give him another injection, but he refused.
He went to Lyra's room.
He found her lying on the bed, looking at him with a regretful gaze.
He sat beside her and said:
"I am the reason… everything that happened is because of me…"
He began hitting his head violently until she stopped him and said:
"If you love me… don't do that, Sorin…"
Sorin burst into tears.
Lyra said:
"Don't worry… I won't leave… even if I die… I will stay by your side… my spirit will be around you…"
She tried to comfort him until he fell asleep from crying,
still holding her hand tightly, unable to let go.
The next morning…
Sorin woke up and looked at Lyra's face.
It was withered, like a flower whose roots had been cut, like a leaf fallen in autumn.
He said:
"Lyra… is what the doctor said true?"
She replied in a weak, broken voice:
"Y-yes…"
Then she started coughing violently…
until she vomited blood.
Sorin screamed:
"Doctor!!"
Lyra calmed him and said:
"Don't worry… it's just a cough…"
Then she said:
"Sorin… go bring me some food… I feel hungry…"
When he left the hospital,
he forgot his wallet beside Lyra.
He returned to take it…
When he entered…
He saw blood everywhere, covering the room.
He was shocked by the scene.
Lyra was lying there… drowned in blood.
In her hand… there was a letter.
Sorin took it and read:
(My beloved Sorin…
I'm sorry that I couldn't stay with you in this life…
I wasn't hungry… I was dying…
I was taking my final breaths…
I didn't want you to see me while I was leaving this world…
Forgive me…
Your eternal love… Lyra)
Sorin's tears did not stop,
like a flowing river.
After the funeral…
Sorin was the last one left at her grave.
He sat beside it and said:
"Lyra… why didn't you stay with me?
Did I do something to annoy you?
Answer me, Lyra…"
He stayed there until night,
then returned again in the morning.
He stood by her grave, unable to speak.
His tears told the story…
a love that lasted ten years… and ended in seconds.
Then Sorin said, his soul dripping with tears:
"You were the candle that lit my path…
now you are the tear that lives in my eyes…
Whenever I look at the sky, I see your face…
I lower my head so I won't see you…
but the earth betrays me and reflects your image…
I close my eyes so no one sees me…
and if someone asks me… I say…"
"The sky is raining…"
"The sky is raining…"
To be continued…
And so… the story ends.
Not because time willed it…
nor because love was weak…
but because fate… was too cruel to be defeated.
She left…
and behind her, a heart that no longer knows how to beat without her,
a soul lost… searching for her in everything…
in the sky, in the ground, in silence, and in noise.
Everything could have been different…
but "could have" brings no one back.
And now…
nothing remains but a memory…
alive… while its owner is gone.
Lyra did not die alone…
something inside Sorin died with her…
something that will never return.
From that moment on…
love was no longer life…
it became…
a curse.
