Chapter 70 - Chapter Seventy

The next day, as the morning announcements filled the classroom, a news clip flickered on the screen in the corner. It showcased the orphanage receiving the donation from the charity event, the children's faces beaming with joy. The director expressed heartfelt gratitude to Celine and Prince, their names now synonymous with generosity. A hush fell over the class as they watched, pleased by how both Celine and Prince had touched lives.

As the clip ended, Celine and Prince exchanged a glance, smiling happily. Maybe this whole thing wasn't just about charity and image rehab after all. A hint of a smile played on Prince's lips, and Celine bumped his fist playfully, their hands lingering just a beat too long.

During their break, Celine and Prince, with the help of some enthusiastic students, tackled the task of transferring funds to the families who had submitted their account details for empowerment and school support. Laughter filled the air as they crossed off names on their list, a wave of satisfaction washing over them with each completed transaction. Scattered across Nigeria, a chorus of delighted gasps and excited phone calls erupted as families received alerts for a brighter future.

Leaving school that afternoon, Celine was surprised to find Adaora waiting for her at the entrance. Dressed in a beautiful Ankara dress and matching pumps, Adaora exuded a beautiful aura. A suitcase stood at her side, hinting at an upcoming journey.

'Ma'am Celine,' Adaora greeted, her voice brimming with gratitude. 'Words cannot express how thankful I am for your generosity. It's given me the opportunity to chase a dream I thought I'd long abandoned.'

Celine's smile widened. 'That's wonderful news, Adaora. Tell me, what's your dream?'

A spark ignited in Adaora's eyes. 'Since I was a girl, I've yearned to be a journalist. But life, as it often does, took me down a different path. Now, with the money you've provided, I can finally return home, complete my education, and share the stories that matter.'

A pang of sadness flickered in Celine's chest, the realisation of losing one of their trusted maid setting in. 'I understand, Adaora. It wouldn't be fair to keep you here when your heart belongs elsewhere. You're not a slave here, you know. You've been an invaluable part of this household, and Audrey will certainly miss your delicious abacha, African salad.'

Adaora chuckled softly. 'I appreciate that, Celine. But following my dreams doesn't mean I can't stay in touch. Perhaps one day, when I'm a renowned journalist, I'll come back and interview you, the socialite who became a philanthropist!'

Celine couldn't help but laugh. 'I look forward to that, Adaora. Now, let's get you to the park. One of the chauffeurs will take you.'

As Adaora's figure disappeared into the distance, a wave of mixed emotions washed over Celine. There was a tinge of sadness at losing a friend, but it was overshadowed by the pride she felt in Adaora's newfound determination. Celine knew this was just the beginning of Adaora's journey, and she couldn't wait to see where it led.

Then, smiling, Celine headed upstairs to her room.
