Chapter 176 - Resonance

CHAPTER 173 — RESONANCE

Leylin's gaze remained fixed on the new star as another faint pulse spread across the sky above the realm.

Then the eighty-one stars reacted.

The completed constellation brightened simultaneously, their purple light sharpening into perfect synchronization as the entire formation shifted subtly around the newly awakened star. The change was almost imperceptible, yet the realm answered it immediately. The violent wind outside the crimson tree lost its chaos. The waters surrounding the island smoothed into complete stillness. Even the drifting essence in the atmosphere reorganized itself into cleaner currents as though the entire realm had suddenly aligned around a single governing rhythm.

Seraphine felt it instantly.

The space around them had become too precise.

Her breathing slowed unconsciously as the pressure beneath the tree changed from unstable density into something colder and infinitely more structured.

Then silence settled.

Leylin had not moved.

Yet something about him no longer felt the same.

The cracks across his crystalline skin stopped shifting entirely as the faint glow beneath them deepened into violet. His posture remained relaxed beneath the tree, but the atmosphere surrounding him had begun tightening around his presence in layers, as though reality itself was unconsciously correcting its distance from him.

Only then did Seraphine notice his eyes.

Purple.

The exact same shade as the constellation above him.

The moment she saw them, a quiet sense of danger settled into her chest.

Leylin slowly lifted his head toward the eighty-second star.

The air around the island tightened further.

Above them, the central star of Echo brightened. Then the three stars surrounding it followed immediately after, their light pulsing through the constellation like a signal moving through a living structure.

Leylin's gaze sharpened slightly.

And suddenly the space beneath the tree contained too many versions of him at once.

One remained standing still.

Another had already taken a step forward.

Another stood at the edge of the island.

Another was already looking upward from somewhere far above them.

The overlapping images lasted less than a second before the constellation stabilized around a single outcome.

Then Leylin was standing directly before the new star.

The pressure across the realm deepened instantly.

The eighty-one stars pulsed together behind Leylin as the space around the new star tightened under their influence. The spiraling essence surrounding Devour slowed abruptly, forced into cleaner patterns as Echo asserted itself across the realm.

Seraphine felt the hostility immediately.

As though the constellation behind Leylin had recognized something incompatible and was now forcing reality itself to reject the distortion.

Leylin's expression remained calm, but the air around him had become unnaturally cold.

The new star reacted.

Its surface folded inward once before the spiraling currents around it intensified again, pulling at the surrounding essence with greater force than before. Tiny streams of crimson light drifted toward it from distant dead stars scattered across the sky.

The moment that happened, the atmosphere changed.

The stars of Echo brightened violently.

Around Leylin, overlapping versions of reality appeared again for a fraction of a second.

One version of him reached toward the star.

Another crushed it.

Another turned away completely.

Another was already standing behind it.

The pressure became unstable.

Seraphine's instincts screamed at her to move, yet the realm beneath the crimson tree had frozen so completely that even breathing felt delayed.

Then Leylin raised his hand.

Everything stopped.

The overlapping realities vanished instantly.

His purple eyes remained fixed on the star as the spiraling essence around it slowly calmed.

For several seconds, neither side moved.

THEN..

Leylin raised his hand toward the star.

The eighty-one stars behind him brightened immediately.

The pressure across the realm sharpened as Echo responded through him, tightening the structure of the surrounding space until even the spiraling essence around the new constellation began slowing under the weight of enforced order.

The new star reacted by pulling harder.

Thin streams of crimson essence drifted toward it from the surrounding sky as its unstable surface folded inward repeatedly, trying to stabilize itself against the suppression pressing down on it.

Leylin's eyes narrowed.

Then he reached forward Directly.

The moment his hand neared the star, the cracks spreading across his palm suddenly receded.

Leylin stopped.

The sensation was immediate.

Something was being pulled out of him naturally.

The star absorbed faint streams of crimson-violet essence directly from his body, and as the energy left him, the pressure inside his form eased almost instantly.

But he did not become weaker.

His body became lighter.

More stable.

The fractures across his arm tightened slowly as the crystalline structure beneath his skin solidified further, adapting to the reduced internal strain now that part of the burden had been redirected elsewhere.

At the same time, the star changed.

Its unstable surface began stabilizing around the essence it consumed from him. The spiraling currents surrounding it deepened in color as its internal structure expanded outward slightly, becoming denser, heavier, more complete than before.

And the moment it stabilized..the crimson sun above the realm pulsed.

Seraphine's eyes widened faintly.

The chains wrapped around the massive sun tightened as its color deepened further into a darker red, and instantly the atmosphere across the realm thickened again.

More essence descended from the sky.

The star absorbed it immediately.

Leylin felt the pressure inside his body rise again.

Then stabilize.

His eyes sharpened slightly.

Another loop.

The larger the star became, the greater its ability to devour.

The greater its ability to devour, the more pressure was removed from his body.

The more stable his body became, the denser the sun above the realm grew.

And the denser the sun became..the more essence the realm itself produced.

Silence settled around him as the realization completed itself naturally.

Then, for the first time since the second constellation appeared..leylin smiled slightly.
