Cherreads

Chapter 15 - System Interface Complete.

A week has passed since my sister's party. The very next morning she took the train and made her way towards the Capital of Selene.

Ever since, the estate has been quiet. People speak less, guards move more, and servants avoid eye contact.

The events of Claudia's farewell party shook everyone up. The guards were put on high alert.

I don't stay—I leave past the gates. No one stops me.

I mean, I am seven now.

I have gained a bit more freedom than before. However, that's only because my father keeps a lot of guards around the whole town.

He thinks I don't know that he sends a few maids to keep an eye on me, but I have my ways of dealing with them.

The city is busy with voices, shops, and noise. I walk through it, covered in a black cloak over a dark suit with faint purple lines.

No one notices.

The Adventurer's Guild is loud and full of life. As I step in, noise hits me. A few glance at me, then look away. I walk to the receptionist's desk.

Luna looks up and pauses.

"Long time no see, Mr. Noir."

"Yeah."

"I'm assuming you have something to sell."

"Not today."

"Oh really? What do you want then?"

"A request."

She smiles, then pulls out a file.

"This one. A cave dungeon. It's around B rank."

"I'll take it."

"Are you sure? With your strength, it might just be a waste of time."

"No."

There is only silence. Her grip tightens on the file. She sighs.

"Fine."

She writes something down and slides a tag along with a map toward me.

"Bring proof. And come back alive."

I take it.

"Don't die, Noir."

I leave.

"Ok, the cave is in the northern region"

I start walking towards the gate of the town; noise behind me.

I made myself look as tall as a 12 year old, so they don't suspect much but they still check my adventures I.d just to clarify.

The city stretches ahead, then disappears.

I walk deeper; the air grows heavy, the path narrows, and light fades.

I don't know how long it's been since I started walking.

I keep walking until I reach the location of the map.

When I look up, I'm met with a dark cave. I hear sounds of growling from inside.

I step inside.

[ Reward: Hidden Class ]

"A class."

Now that I think about it, I never actually got the notification to select my class.

I thought maybe the system was waiting for a moment to notify me about this.

Guess I was right.

[ Forcing Override]

The screen flickers violently.

Then—

Everything stabilizes.

The walls begin to move.

Stone shifts, stretches, and reshapes.

The narrow entrance widens into something massive.

The ground cracks, then smooths into a wide surface.

Pillars rise from the earth.

This is no longer a cave.

It looks like a throne room.

"What's going on?"

Then movement—tall orks in heavy armor, huge swords too big for normal men.

One vanishes and appears in front of me, swinging.

I tilt my head—miss.

Another strike from behind—I step aside—miss.

More appear: three, five, all at once. Blades fill the air, fast, heavy, relentless.

I barely move, just enough.

"Slow."

One rushes in. I catch the blade with my bare hand.

Crack.

The blade shatters. The ork freezes. I step forward, palm out—boom. It flies back, slamming into the others. They charge all at once.

"Alright."

I flex my hand. One thin, shimmering wire shoots out, wrapping around the first orc's sword.

Crack.

The blade snaps.

The ork freezes, panic flashing across its face.

I tug, and the ork flies backward, colliding with two others.

They charge all at once.

More wires flow from my hands, slicing through the air, tangling swords, tripping legs. One ork swings, and I flick a wire—it wraps around its neck, tight, tight, and snaps it backward.

Another tries to swing—cut in half before it can even lift its blade.

The castle became silent once more.

"Well, that worked out."

Having that much control over mana is something mages all around the world strive to do yet here I am doing it as a 7-year-old.

"I've just got to clear this place up, right?"

Seems like a good time to test Her skills.
