Aiden's POV
"You really don't need to worry about a single thing anymore, Aiden," Emily said smoothly, leaning over the desk as I flipped through the heavy stack of documents. "I have absolutely everything under control for you to resume your position at the company."
I closed the thick file with a sharp snap and slid the papers to the side.
"Here, take this," she added, handing me a small cup. "Drink it. Your rashes are almost completely gone."
I took the cup from her hand, draining the liquid in one long swallow. Setting the empty glass down, I looked up at her. "Thank you, Emily. For taking care of everything these past few weeks while I was out."
"Of course," she replied, offering me a pleasant, practiced smile as she picked up the empty cup. "I'm your wife, after all. It's the absolute least I can do for you." With that, she turned on her heel and glided out of the office.
The moment the door shut, I let out a heavy, exhausting sigh, rubbing the bridge of my nose.
