Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Magical Master

Magic is a very complex concept. It is not only highly volatile, but also progressive.

Having disappeared for over five hundred years, this concept had taken great strides from where it left off, leaving me stuck with only outdated information.

But all this would change in a few days. When I was a seven-year-old child, I had no access to the main home library, as I was always under surveillance.

Since my mother realized that I loved books, she set up a separate library for me, filling it with easy-to-understand books that she considered appropriate for my age. Of course, I easily exhausted these and asked for more important material, but my stubborn mother insisted on sticking with the childish scraps of paper she called books.

Because of this, I was unable to make much progress in my study of modern-day magic. However, I wasn't too discouraged that I still hadn't formed my own mana core. That time, however, was over. The deal I had made with my mother would finally come into effect

Books were important, but this deal was better than literature. A magical user with expertise in both.

Practice and teaching, and able to pass on his knowledge

to others... A magical teacher!

Finally, I was going to have one

Clack clack clack whoosh BOOM

Our distinct energies collided with each other, causing an earthquake throughout the room.

I flinched slightly, noticing that my pressure was nothing compared to his. However, I wasn't about to give up because of this minor setback.

I pushed out more of my mana to compensate, gritting my teeth as I glared at him. The man didn't seem bothered by my pressure from his demeanor, he wasn't even serious from what he was emitting.

"Tch, don't look at me!"

Even if I was weaker in terms of mana quality, that wasn't everything. The room was currently saturated with mana thanks to our pressures, and my pressure was directly in conflict with.

His pressure, plus the surrounding mana touch.

The conditions were perfect for Spellcraft.

"Keep her there," suddenly a voice cut through my thoughts.

My eyes bulged as I recognized who it was. I glanced back and saw an unsettling glare on her face.

"Annabelle?!"

The man standing before me quickly withdrew his magic pressure for some reason, leaving only my visible pressure.

I turned to look at him, only to be shocked by what I saw. His intimidating aura was gone, and instead, his eyes displayed an emotion I hadn't felt in a long time... fear.

What the hell was going on here?!

"You've crossed the line this time, Alphonse," Annabelle muttered my mother, approaching.

"Anna, wait, I can explain."

Before the man could finish speaking, my mother vanished, appearing behind the man she had called Alphonse.

His menacing aura vanished, and instead, his eyes displayed an emotion I hadn't felt in a long time... fear.

"You've crossed the line this time, Alphonse," Annabelle muttered, approaching.

"Anna, wait, I can explain."

Before the man could finish speaking, my mother disappeared from her place, appearing behind the man she had called Alphonse.

"Wow... I couldn't even see her move," my thoughts rang as I watched her standing in front of me, but behind the man between us.

"W-wait!" he pleaded.

However, before he could struggle or move, my mother had her arms around him, pulled him sharply up, and bent backward, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Great suplex.
