Chapter 62 - The Third Hokage’s Seat Won’t Last

"Let's go, Danzō."

Seeing the situation spiral beyond recovery, Hiruzen Sarutobi made his move. He stepped forward and personally escorted Danzō Shimura away.

Throughout the entire process, Danzō did not utter a single word of resistance. The arrogance and authority he once carried had vanished completely.

Shuoye Uchiha watched their retreating figures and let out a quiet scoff.

The Third Hokage's seat won't last much longer.

Today had changed everything.

The fracture between him and Hiruzen was no longer something that could be mended.

At that moment, a thread of cold chakra brushed against the edge of his perception. Shuoye felt it—but chose not to react.

Instead, he exhaled slowly, suppressing the turbulence in his heart, then turned and led the Uchiha back to their district.

Once inside the clan grounds, Shuoye finally allowed himself to relax.

They had won the war.

But even he felt the strain.

Then Kushina Uzumaki ran straight toward him and kissed him without hesitation.

The exhaustion disappeared instantly.

Shuoye couldn't help but laugh softly.

Around him, Uchiha clan members looked at him with open admiration.

Warmth spread through his chest.

"Tonight," he announced with a smile, "we celebrate properly."

The Uchiha had earned the right to breathe.

Across Konoha's streets, voices surged like a rising tide.

Teahouses and marketplaces buzzed with one topic alone:

The battle between the Uchiha and the Hidden Cloud.

"Did you hear? Shuoye Uchiha fought like a god descending from the heavens! He crushed the Hidden Cloud elites!"

A young man shouted excitedly, drawing eager agreement from those around him.

"The Third Hokage may be respected, but time spares no one. It's people like Shuoye who can truly carry the future," a middle-aged man added thoughtfully.

"And all these years the Uchiha were treated unfairly. Danzō… what a hypocrite," a woman muttered angrily.

"Keep your voice down!" someone hissed. "The Anbu might hear you!"

But the civilians no longer looked as afraid as before.

Something had shifted.

In the upper council chamber, the atmosphere was heavy—but different.

Hope lingered beneath the tension.

Shuoye sat at the head of the table. Around him were Uchiha elites and select Konoha officials.

For the first time in years, pride filled the room.

"According to our latest assessment," Shisui Uchiha began, standing as the representative, "the Uchiha clan's overall strength has risen significantly."

"Not only in combat power, but in intelligence gathering and tactical coordination as well."

Shuoye nodded slowly.

He understood that the greatest change was not strength—

It was belief.

"The public opinion within the village is also improving," an intelligence officer reported. "Since Danzō's secrets were exposed, more villagers are beginning to understand what the Uchiha endured."

Murmurs of agreement followed.

Relief.

Resolve.

"All of this," someone said quietly, "is because of Shuoye-sama."

They still remembered the moment he tore the truth into the open before the entire village.

Without that decisiveness, the Uchiha's return might have ended very differently.

Shisui's expression grew serious.

"However, we cannot lower our guard."

"The other villages are not pleased. They cannot tolerate Konoha holding such power. We are already facing pressure to hand over Ay, as well as the Two-Tails and Eight-Tails."

The room tightened instantly.

This was not simple diplomacy.

It was a probe.

A challenge.

Shuoye merely smiled faintly.

"Let them test us."

"As long as we remain strong, outside threats are illusions."

His voice was steady, yet carried absolute weight.

Confidence settled over the room.

Later that night, Shuoye sat atop a towering rock, gazing at the distant stars.

Scenes from the war replayed in his mind.

The Uchiha had demonstrated explosive strength and terrifying momentum.

But he had also seen their weakness.

In prolonged combat—

In chaotic battlefields—

Individual power still determined the final outcome.

They lacked that decisive edge.

"Strength," Shuoye murmured to himself.

"We need greater strength."

His gaze hardened beneath the night sky.
