Chapter 222 - The Monolith

The transition from a tenant to a sovereign entity required a specific kind of violence. It wasn't the kinetic, blood-soaked warfare of the previous months. It was the sterile, crushing weight of absolute, undeniable liquidity.

Tuesday morning broke over Manhattan in a brilliant, freezing wash of winter sunlight. The forty-second floor of Rebuild Tech operated with a quiet, lethal hum. The frantic survival instincts had been systematically bred out of the corporate culture, replaced by the arrogant, unshakeable certainty of a monopoly.

Inside the frosted glass walls of the Sanctum, Ryan sat behind his massive walnut desk. He wore a tailored, midnight-blue suit, no tie, the crisp white collar of his shirt open at the throat. He projected an immovable, gravitational force.

Sitting across from him in one of the leather guest chairs was Jonathan Carmichael.
