In the late 18th and subsequent 19th centuries, the Ottoman Empire entered its true, final stage of decline, marked by the Russo-Ottoman War of 1768, and the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877, the latter having caused the rapid decline of the Ottoman Empire's influence in Europe. However, Mahmud II, known by many as the 'Peter the Great' of the Ottoman Empire, managed to modernise the empire with the Tanzimat reforms. But alas, it only served to delay the Empire's inevitable fate, as it collapsed just under a century later. But Fate, it seems, had other plans. In modern day Turkiye, an engineer is killed in a freak accident. He opens his eyes again, as the young prince Mahmud II. Will he be able to navigate the rotting Ottoman Empire from within and restore its power, or will he die trying, and let the cogs of history continue rolling, undeterred.
