"Those remains need to be dealt with properly. Otherwise, they might give rise to new evil beings."
As the last trace of miasma dissipated, Kikyo withdrew her spiritual power. Looking at the pile of demon remains stacked like a small hill, she tapped her chin lightly and frowned.
"The evil energy has already been purified, but demonic energy still lingers. Completely cleansing all of this would consume too much spiritual power. We need a more efficient method."
"Can't we just throw them away?"
Uchiha Retsu blinked in confusion.
In the past, when he needed life force, he would simply drain demons dry with sealing scrolls.
Later, when he no longer needed them, he would just leave their corpses where they fell. He had never considered that they might cause problems afterward.
"Of course not."
Kikyo shook her head and explained seriously,
"Most demons contain not only demonic power, but also miasma. After death, those residual energies can gather in the corpse and mutate, potentially giving birth to new demons. They must be handled carefully."
"They can actually do that?"
Retsu glanced at the remains in surprise.
From the way Kikyo described it, his previous habit of leaving demon corpses behind was basically the equivalent of dumping highly hazardous waste.
He suddenly thought of a powerful demon from the original story—Ryūkotsusei, the dragon corpse that had mutated into a great demon and later taught Inuyasha the Backlash Wave.
So even a corpse could become something monstrous.
"How do you usually deal with them?" he asked curiously.
"For weaker demons, purification arrows reduce them to ashes immediately, so no extra handling is needed," Kikyo replied.
"For stronger ones, it's more troublesome. They must be buried and sealed with talismans to suppress their demonic energy. Over time, the energy dissipates, and once only bones remain, it's safe."
She paused, then added,
"Or they can be thrown into special places—like the Bone-Eater's Well near Kaede Village. Fifty years ago, I often disposed of demon corpses there."
"I see."
Retsu nodded.
"So basically, bury them and suppress the demonic energy with talismans until it fades."
"Exactly." Kikyo turned to fetch sealing talismans.
But Retsu grabbed her hand.
"No need to go through all that trouble. I've got a better way."
"Though… we should change locations. This isn't the right place."
As he spoke, his Mangekyō Sharingan appeared, power surging within his eyes.
"Kamui."
A swirling простран漩涡 opened instantly, sucking all the remains into his Kamui dimension.
"Come with me."
He led Kikyo toward the forest behind the shrine.
"There's a rocky clearing back here—perfect for handling them."
Soon, they arrived at a patch of land filled with stones and weeds.
Kikyo looked around curiously.
"How are you going to deal with them?"
Retsu released the remains from Kamui, piling them onto the rocks.
"Simple. Burn them."
"Ordinary fire won't completely destroy demon corpses," Kikyo warned. Then added, "Though… I'm not sure about your ninjutsu flames."
"Don't worry," Retsu said confidently, pulling her back a few steps.
"This fire will definitely work."
The pattern in his Mangekyō spun slightly as his eye power surged.
"Amaterasu."
Without warning, black flames erupted across the pile of remains, spreading rapidly until the entire "mountain of corpses" was engulfed.
The intense heat distorted the surrounding air.
"Black flames?!"
Kikyo's eyes widened in shock as she stared at the eerie fire.
"This is Amaterasu—a Sharingan technique," Retsu explained with a faintly amused smile.
"It's known as the inextinguishable black flame. Unless I dispel it myself, it will keep burning until the target is reduced to ashes."
He had copied this technique from Sasuke, but rarely used it.
After all, it had a rather infamous nickname—
"The flames that can't kill anyone."
Kikyo, however, was clearly impressed.
"Inextinguishable flames… that's incredible."
"But it also has that nickname," Retsu added with a grin.
"Flames that… can't kill people?"
Kikyo looked puzzled, pointing at the remains already turning to ash.
"But its power is clearly overwhelming. Ordinary fire could never do this."
"That's because, if you know how it works, it's actually very hard for it to kill strong opponents," Retsu explained.
"For example, if Amaterasu ignites my clothes, I can just take them off before the flames spread to my body and throw them away."
"And even if it reaches the body—if it's not a vital area—you can just cut off the burning part and survive."
"Th-that works?"
Kikyo stared at him in disbelief.
But after thinking about it, it actually made sense.
After all, no one would realistically fight completely naked… right?
"Of course," Retsu chuckled, "if someone doesn't think of that method—or if they happen to be fighting naked—then yeah, they'll burn to death."
He suddenly recalled the White Zetsu clones Sasuke had incinerated—those guys running around naked had paid the price.
"Who would fight without clothes?"
Kikyo rolled her eyes, clearly exasperated.
"Who knows?"
Retsu smiled faintly.
After all, some of Naraku's incarnations—like Musō—had no problem running around completely naked.
Turning his gaze back to the blazing black flames consuming the demon remains, he added:
"But for something that can't move like this… it's more than enough."
