Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Registration

Chapter 52: Registration

The village where Shrek Academy was located sat right between Soto City and the Star Dou Great Forest.

The two didn't delay much along the way, finding this so-called "monster" academy in less than three days.

Along the way, Lin Yang didn't stay idle either, nagging Xiao Wu with many instructions and making plenty of preparations in advance.

However, even though Lin Yang had given her a heads-up, Xiao Wu still couldn't help but complain when she saw the dilapidated academy gate.

"This dump? It's not even as big as the Junior Spirit Master Academy I used to attend."

"To be the best, one must endure the worst," Lin Yang said with a chuckle.

"Hmph!"

Xiao Wu gave a light snort, a teasing look on her face.

"The way I see it, as long as you're willing to suffer, there will be no end to the suffering!"

Lin Yang raised an eyebrow. "Ho, it seems you understand quite well!"

"Of course, I had a good teacher!"

"Alright, stop being cheeky. Let's get you registered first."

With that, the two of them walked into the academy together.

Since it wasn't registration time, they barely saw anyone else, and the place looked rather desolate.

Rounding a corner, Lin Yang saw an old man lying down, basking in the sun.

The old man was dressed simply and looked lazy, appearing just like an ordinary old country man.

Lin Yang glanced at him, and with a thought, he pulled Xiao Wu over and said politely,

"Hello, Teacher. We're here to register!"

"It's not registration time. The academy isn't accepting students."

Li Yusong opened his eyes and looked the two of them up and down. A sharp glint flashed in his cloudy eyes as he changed his tune.

"However, I happen to be bored today, so I'll give you a backdoor entry."

"But the registration rules can't change. The registration fee is ten gold coins per person. Pay up first!"

Before anything had even happened, he was already collecting money.

Xiao Wu grumbled in her heart: Lin Yang was absolutely right, this school is like reaching out from under a coffin—dead set on money!

But she still handed over ten gold coins.

Seeing gold coins coming in, Li Yusong immediately perked up. He rolled up from his lounge chair and didn't waste any more words.

"Stretch out your hand!"

Lin Yang nodded to Xiao Wu.

Xiao Wu didn't waste words either and directly extended her arm.

Li Yusong squeezed Xiao Wu's arm and let out a soft "Eh?" An unusual look flashed in his eyes. "Not even eight years old? So young?"

After testing her bone age, he asked Xiao Wu to release her Martial Soul.

A pink light appeared, a pair of rabbit ears grew on Xiao Wu's head, and her body became slightly more slender.

Two yellow Soul Rings rose from beneath her feet!

Li Yusong's eyes nearly bulged out of his head. "A Two-Ring Great Soul Master under eight years old?"

"Girl, test your Soul Power!"

By now, Li Yusong couldn't care about anything else and immediately pulled out a crystal and handed it to Xiao Wu.

"Rank twenty-one, nearly twenty-two. Not bad, not bad at all."

Li Yusong's old face broke into a smile so wide it looked like a blooming flower.

"It seems our academy has recruited a real Little Monster this time. That old miser Flender will have to give me a raise."

Having said that, Li Yusong turned his gaze toward Lin Yang.

It looked like these two were siblings.

Since the younger sister's talent was so terrifying, what about this older brother who seemed more composed?

"Kid, where's your registration fee?"

Lin Yang smiled slightly. "Thank you for your kind regard, Senior, but I already have a place to go. I only came this time to bring her for registration."

"Tsk!"

Li Yusong smacked his lips, wanting to persuade him more. Little Monsters who delivered themselves to the doorstep were rare.

But seeing the look in Lin Yang's eyes, he immediately dropped the idea.

This kid clearly had his own mind; he wasn't someone who could be swayed by words.

What a pity... he had a premonition that this kid would definitely surprise him even more.

Then, Li Yusong's expression turned serious as he said to Xiao Wu:

"Although your cultivation is sufficient, if you want to join our Shrek Academy, you still have to pass the combat test."

He added another sentence.

"Don't overthink it. The purpose of the combat test is to examine how well a student can apply their own Martial Soul."

"As a Soul Master, just burying your head in cultivation won't do. Actual combat is an indispensable part."

Lin Yang had already explained this point, so Xiao Wu wasn't surprised at all and asked directly,

"Who will test my combat?"

Li Yusong chuckled, and a powerful aura suddenly erupted from him. A rich red light was abruptly released from his body.

A long rod with fine patterns appeared in his hand.

Six Soul Rings—one white, one yellow, three purple, and one black—suddenly emerged beneath his feet, rhythmically moving around him as they shimmered with light.

This Li Yusong looked like an ordinary old man, yet he was a genuine six-ring Soul Emperor level powerhouse.

"The Dean and Vice-Dean aren't here, so it's just me. Don't worry, I won't use any Martial Soul Abilities. Just give it your all, girl."

Lin Yang nodded to Xiao Wu and took a few steps back.

Xiao Wu stood in place, clasped her hands together, and briefly stretched her limbs before taking a deep breath.

Bang!

The moment the ground exploded with a bang, Xiao Wu charged toward Li Yusong like an arrow released from a bow.

"Little girl, you have no martial ethics!"

A sharp light flashed in Li Yusong's eyes as he held the Coiling Dragon Rod horizontally, perfectly blocking Xiao Wu's kick.

"Nice power!"

Xiao Wu snorted coldly. Her left toes turned to hook onto the Coiling Dragon Rod, and her waist suddenly twisted.

Her right leg was like a whip, her toes pointed straight, Binding with an invisible wind. Like a crescent moon, it swung toward Li Yusong's head.

Softness Breathing Technique, First Form: Silk Binding - Moon Wrap!

Li Yusong blurted out, "A Self-created Soul Skill?"

At this moment, he was incredibly shocked, but his hands didn't stop moving.

His first White Soul Ring lit up, and the Coiling Dragon Rod in his hand was suddenly swung into a thousand rod shadows, forming an airtight protective net.

Failing to land the hit, Xiao Wu flipped back in the air. Just as she was preparing to continue her attack, Li Yusong suddenly raised his hand.

"Alright, that's enough. You've passed."

Only then did Xiao Wu breathe a sigh of relief. Facing a Soul Emperor level powerhouse, she felt quite a bit of pressure, fearing her performance would disappoint Lin Yang.

Little did she know, Li Yusong was even more shocked.

Although they had only exchanged one move, he had broken his promise not to use a Soul skills.

Judging from the exchange just now, this young girl not only had a Self-created Soul Skill but also used ruthless methods—every move was a killing strike.

If he hadn't relied on his powerful Soul Power, that last move probably would have drawn blood.

Where on earth did these siblings come from?

Which Sect had the capability to cultivate such outstanding talents?

Li Yusong quickly tossed these questions to the back of his mind.

He was just an ordinary academy teacher. Such annoying matters should be left to that old miser to worry about.

Since Flender and Zhao Wuji weren't at the school, Li Yusong took Xiao Wu directly to her dormitory, giving her a brief introduction along the way.

Actually, there wasn't much to introduce. There were only a few people in the school; the teachers and students combined could be counted on one hand.

It was more or less as Lin Yang had guessed.

Currently, the school had only two students: Ma Hongjun and Oscar.

Both were orphans who had been brought back and adopted by Flender because of their outstanding talent, naturally becoming students of the school.

As for Dai Mubai, he was probably still being the Third Prince in the Star Luo Empire.
