Manhattan.
Time reversal. The most unsolvable power in the universe.
Strange sat paralyzed in the rubble, watching in despair as carbon ash and bone fragments reversed course — flying upward, converging on Zombie Thanos's broken body like a film rewinding.
As the former bearer of the Eye of Agamotto, he understood the Time Stone better than anyone alive. As long as it existed, no amount of damage mattered. The wielder could reset to any prior state. Infinite healing. Infinite resurrection.
An unkillable monster.
Three seconds. Purple flesh regrew. Meridians reconnected. A cloudy eyeball reformed in the empty socket.
Zombie Thanos raised the Gauntlet. Power Stone charging—
Jake stopped walking.
Didn't attack. Didn't retreat. Just looked at the glowing green Stone with genuine interest.
"Playing with time? In front of me?"
One thought.
Whoosh—!
Feedback dissolved. In his place — mechanical armor, bronze and dark gold. A transparent glass chest-plate where intricate gears spun with precision. A large wind-up key crowning his head.
Clockwork.
A species with the laws of time written into its DNA.
Jake grasped the key on his head.
Click.
Half-turn. Counter-clockwise.
BZZZ—!!!
No explosion. No light. Only an invisible ripple expanding from Jake's position — sweeping across the entire Manhattan block.
The world stopped.
Strange — mouth open, frozen mid-shout. Falling dust — suspended. Light itself — sluggish, viscous, barely propagating.
Ahead, the Time Stone blazed green — fighting back against the time-freeze field. The collision of two temporal laws cracked space around Thanos like stressed glass.
But Zombie Thanos was a beast. He could crudely reverse his own timeline. He couldn't fight with time.
The stalemate lasted a tenth of a second.
A golden gear phantom erupted from Clockwork's chest — and the Time Stone's light was suppressed. Overridden. Silenced.
Zombie Thanos froze. Half-rebuilt body. Unfinished roar. A statue in a stopped world.
Jake walked forward. Heavy mechanical steps. Stood before the frozen Titan.
"Using an external tool and calling yourself a Time Lord?"
He grasped the key again.
Clockwise this time.
Click! Click! Click!
Three full rotations. The gears inside his chest spun so fast they threw sparks.
"Let's speed things up. Ten thousand times — enough?"
BOOM!
A golden torrent of time erupted from Jake's chest and engulfed Zombie Thanos completely.
The stasis broke. Replaced by extreme temporal acceleration.
"ROAR!!!"
The most piercing scream Zombie Thanos had ever produced.
One second equaled decades. His Titan body — the flesh that had survived plasma fire — shriveled under the river of time. Purple skin weathered. Muscles desiccated. Bones turned grey and brittle.
Even a zombie decays under ten thousand years per second.
A few seconds of real time. Millennia of erosion.
The zombie overlord of the multiverse became a pile of bones — then the bones became ash — and the ash scattered in Manhattan's night wind.
Only the golden Gauntlet remained. Five Stones embedded. Clanging onto the cracked pavement.
[Doctor Strange — shocked! +30,000!]
[Spider-Man — shocked! +20,000!]
[Achievement: Crushing with the Laws of Time! +100,000!]
Jake detransformed. Exhaled. Stepped forward to collect the Gauntlet—
BZZZ!!!
Cold. Piercing. A needle of lethal crisis stabbing directly into his brainstem. The Omnitrix screamed red.
Jake's body moved before his mind could process — instinctive retreat, thirty meters, in a heartbeat.
0.01 seconds after he moved.
Above the sky — the purple multiverse rift, still crawling with hundreds of thousands of zombie troops — froze.
Then — from the depths of the rift, from somewhere beyond all known universes — a beam of pure white light emerged.
Too fast. Too absolute. Too clean.
No explosion. No shockwave. No sound.
The beam pierced the multiverse rift.
Under the beam's touch, the massive spatial crack — and every zombie within it, hundreds of thousands of undead soldiers — was erased. Like a pencil drawing meeting an eraser. Not destroyed. Not disintegrated. Simply... removed from existence.
The night sky healed. Calm. Empty.
The silence that remained was the kind that made skin crawl.
