Plumbers Moon Base. Teleportation hall.

The quantum portal ring hummed at full power — blue arcs jumping across the metal frame like caged lightning.

"Coordinates locked. Earth-65. Manhattan, New York."

Gwen wore the Ghost-Spider suit, hood up, blonde hair hidden. Her fists were clenched hard enough to turn her knuckles white.

A hand on her shoulder.

Jake stepped forward. No armor. Just the Omnitrix, pulsing faint emerald.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here."

Gwen breathed. Nodded.

They stepped through together. Blue flash. Gone.

Earth-65. New York City.

Times Square was a wasteland. Smoke billowed. Armored police cars lay overturned, burning tires filling the air with acrid rubber stench.

"FIRE! Don't stop!"

Captain George Stacy — Gwen's father — crouched behind a flipped riot vehicle, pistol barking, shouting at officers who were running out of ammunition and hope.

In front of him: a three-meter-tall killing machine in grey high-tech heavy armor, an alloy horn aimed at the police line.

Rhino.

"Die, copper!"

He charged. Each step cratered the asphalt. A runaway bulldozer aimed at George Stacy's skull.

George emptied his magazine. Closed his eyes.

Thud.

Heavy impact. No crushing.

He opened his eyes.

A blue portal had dissolved two meters in front of him. Standing in its place — a figure made entirely of teal crystal.

Diamondhead.

Jake's palm met Rhino's alloy horn. A charge capable of smashing through a skyscraper — stopped dead by a single hand.

"WHAT—?!" Rhino's treaded boots ground against the asphalt, throwing sparks. He pushed with everything. Couldn't move an inch.

"Your horn is blunt."

Thought-switch. No dial.

Whoosh!

Teal crystal became red muscle. Four arms. Thirteen feet.

Four Arms.

Lower hands grabbed Rhino's belt. Upper hands seized the horn. Waist rotation — maximum lift.

Rhino — over a dozen tons — went overhead and flew like a bowling ball into the ruins.

BOOM!

A row of scrapped cars flattened. Rhino out cold.

"DAD!"

White web-silk from above. Gwen landed beside George, hood pulled back, hands checking him for injuries. "Are you hurt?"

"Gwen? How did you—" George looked at his daughter. At the red four-armed monster that had just one-shotted Rhino. His brain stalled completely.

"Catch up later."

Jake detransformed. Looked up at a partially collapsed building ahead.

"Come out. Using a third-rate villain to cause chaos... don't you think that's beneath you?"

Clap. Clap. Clap.

Applause from the shadows.

A white-haired youth in a red-and-black jacket stepped to the roof's edge. Looking down at Jake with a face that was — identical. Same features. Same build. Same jawline. Different hair. Different eyes. Different intent.

On his wrist: a blood-red watch. Aggressive design. Dangerous glow.

The Ultimatrix.

"First time meeting you, Jake Rivers."

Albedo sneered.

"Or should I call you... a thief."

"Thief?" Jake's hands stayed in his pockets. "You're the one wearing my face and calling me a thief."

"Your face? This is a side effect of Omnitrix genetic synchronization!" Albedo's teeth clenched, fanaticism burning in his eyes. "That old fool Azmuth handed the greatest creation in the universe to an unevolved Earth primate!"

He pointed at Jake.

"You don't understand evolution! I created the Ultimatrix! I improved Azmuth's design! I can push genes past their natural limits — achieve Ultimate Evolution!"

"You are not worthy of wearing that watch."

Albedo slammed the red dial.

Red light erupted like a pillar of blood.

His body expanded — muscles shredding his clothes, skin turning dark green, metal bone spurs growing from his back. Forearms restructured into twin missile launchers. Fifteen meters tall. A red genetically-mutated dinosaur radiating primal violence.

Ultimate Humungousaur — Albedo's version.

ROAR!!!

The sonic wave shattered every window for three blocks.

"DIE!"

Missile bays opened. Dozens of high-explosive bone-spur rockets streaked toward Jake's position, trailing red exhaust.

"JAKE!" Gwen reached for her father—

"Don't move."

Jake stood still. Didn't blink.

One thought.

Whoosh!

A short alien in a white protective suit. Two green battery canisters on his back. Mouth far too large for his body.

Upchuck. Gourmand.

"Awoo!"

Upchuck's jaw dislocated. Four green tentacle-tongues whipped outward, snatching every missile from the air — dozens of warheads that could level city blocks — and swallowing them whole.

Burp.

Jake patted his round belly.

"That all the heat your 'ultimate weapon' has?"

Upchuck's mouth opened wide again.

"Right back at you!"

BOOM!!

A green plasma ball — compressed, concentrated, ten times faster than the missiles — erupted from his mouth and struck Ultimate Humungousaur square in the chest.

BANG!

Albedo staggered back three steps. Scorch mark on his chest armor.

"HOW?!" Albedo's disbelief was total. "You didn't touch the dial! No transformation flash! You unlocked Master Control?!"

Whoosh.

Jake — human form, hovering in mid-air via Gravattack's localized gravity manipulation.

"Noticed it, fake?"

He looked down at the red behemoth.

"The Ultimate Evolution you're so proud of? Against absolute mastery, it's just a bigger target."

"Today I'll show you how this watch is actually supposed to be used."
