Chapter 6 - Plans

The arena was still drowning in the aftershock of humiliation.

A god had died.

Not wounded.

Not defeated.

Killed.

And worse—

Unplanned.

From the highest throne, a single presence rose.

Ancient.

Cold.

Absolute.

Odin stood.

The Allfather's single eye glowed faintly beneath the shadow of his hood. His ravens shifted on his shoulders, restless, sensing the fracture in divine authority.

When he spoke, his voice did not need volume.

It carried by weight alone.

"We have decided…"

Every god went silent.

"…to revise the structure of Ragnarok."

His gaze moved to the center of the arena.

To the monster wearing a man's shape.

"…The tournament will no longer consist of twelve rounds in one day."

A pause.

"To preserve dignity."

"To preserve order."

His eye narrowed.

"There will be one round per day."

A ripple spread through heaven and earth alike.

Odin finished:

"You will fight your next opponent tomorrow."

Silence.

All eyes fell on him.

On the King of Vampires.

On the being who had just eaten war itself.

Alucard stood there for a moment.

Then—

He laughed.

Not loudly.

Not maniacally.

Just a simple, genuine laugh.

"Very well."

Inside his mind—

'Ok, that was funny.'

He adjusted Darkness Eater on his shoulder.

'Like really funny.'

He turned and began walking toward the human gate.

'Hope they don't take my laugh as anything else.'

Behind him—

The gods stood frozen.

Because what they heard…

Was not amusement.

To them—

It sounded like hunger.

Zeus leaned slightly toward Odin.

"…He's not afraid."

Odin did not respond.

But Huginn whispered into his ear.

Muninn followed.

The Allfather's grip tightened on his spear.

Elsewhere, Brunhilde smiled wider than ever before.

"He's breaking them."

Beside her, Goll whispered nervously.

"He just laughed…"

Lucifer chuckled softly.

"Yes."

His red eyes gleamed.

"And they think it meant death."

Back in the arena, the divine side began to fracture into hurried whispers.

"Who goes next?"

"You fight him."

"No, you fight him."

"He killed Ares like nothing."

"WE NEED A PLAN."

For the first time since the dawn of heaven—

The gods were afraid of tomorrow.

Back in the preparation hall, away from the arena and away from the eyes of heaven—

Alucard walked calmly, as if he hadn't just committed deicide.

Inside his mind, the translucent screen hovered.

He focused on it.

'What's BP?'

Ding!

[Blood Points (BP): Resource acquired through consuming blood, divine ichor, or killing entities.]

[Uses include:]

• Unlocking dormant Authorities

• Increasing Stat Synchronization

• Breaking Restraint Levels

• Restoring lost abilities

• Evolution

[Current BP: 2,400]

Alucard's eyes narrowed slightly.

'So it's currency.'

Ding!

[Correct.]

[Blood is power.]

[Power is progression.]

[Progression is survival.]

He smirked faintly.

'Huh… interesting.'

Footsteps approached.

Slow.

Elegant.

Familiar.

Carmilla appeared before him, her red eyes scanning him from head to toe.

Not in fear.

In analysis.

In possession.

She stepped closer and placed her hand gently on his chest.

Right where Ares's heart had been absorbed.

Her fingers lingered.

"…You're warmer," she whispered.

Alucard tilted his head slightly.

She looked up into his eyes.

"Was it your plan to hold back, my love?"

Alucard smiled.

Calm.

Confident.

"Yes."

Inside his mind—

'Lady, I was not choosing to hold back.'

His fingers twitched slightly.

'My body simply didn't remember how to stop holding back.'

Ding!

[Synchronization Rate: 11%]

Ding!

[Divine Ichor fully assimilated.]

Ding!

[Blood Authority: Control — Unlocked]

Carmilla's eyes narrowed slightly.

She could feel it now.

Not just vampire.

Not just monster.

Something older.

Something rising.

"…You've changed," she said softly.

Alucard chuckled.

"I killed a god."

He leaned closer to her.

"Change is expected."

But internally—

He looked back at the system.

At the BP.

At the unlocks.

At the restraints.

'This system…'

Ding!

[Yes, Host?]

He asked the real question now.

'How strong was I… before I lost my memory?'

The system was silent for a moment.

Then—

Ding!

[Answer: Restricted.]

[Requirement to view: Restraint Level 5]

For the first time since waking—

Alucard frowned.

Not in fear.

In curiosity.

Behind him, Carmilla wrapped her arms gently around his arm.

Possessive.

Protective.

Proud.

"Tomorrow," she whispered.

"You'll kill another."

Alucard smiled faintly.

"Yes."

Inside his mind—

'And I'll remember more.'

Later

Alucard walked beside Carmilla as the gates of his castle opened for them.

Stone doors moved on their own, recognizing their master.

Servants bowed.

Torches ignited.

The castle itself was alive.

But Alucard wasn't paying attention to any of it.

He was replaying something far more important.

Zeus's face.

Odin's silence.

The other gods.

No tears.

No rage.

No vows of revenge.

Just shock.

Awkward shock.

Not grief.

He narrowed his eyes.

'Ok, system. What happens in this universe when a god dies?'

He paused.

'Because that reaction was wrong.'

He remembered clearly.

In Record of Ragnarok canon, death was permanent.

Absolute.

Final.

But this…

This wasn't that.

Ding!

[Answer: When a god is killed in this universe, they do not remain permanently dead.]

Alucard raised an eyebrow.

'Explain.'

Ding!

[Upon death, a god's Divine Essence splits into fragments.]

[Their Domain closes.]

[Their Authority becomes dormant.]

[Their consciousness enters a reincarnation cycle.]

Alucard stopped walking.

'…Reincarnation?'

Ding!

[Correct.]

[The god is reborn as a human.]

[They live a full human life.]

[They age.]

[They weaken.]

[They suffer.]

[They die.]

[Only after experiencing full mortality…]

[They awaken again as a god.]

Silence filled the hall.

Alucard blinked once.

Twice.

Then he laughed.

Not loudly.

But genuinely amused.

'So I didn't permanently kill Ares.'

Ding!

[Correct.]

[You temporarily removed him.]

[Estimated return time: 60–120 human years.]

Alucard placed a hand on his chin.

'…That explains it.'

He resumed walking.

'They weren't mourning.'

He smirked.

'They were inconvenienced.'

Ding!

[Correct.]

[God death in this universe is considered a forced reset.]

[Not extinction.]

Alucard chuckled.

"Oh, that is cruel."

Carmilla glanced at him.

"What is?"

He looked at her.

"They will remember dying."

She froze slightly.

"…Explain."

Alucard smiled wider.

"They will live as human."

He continued walking.

"They will feel fear."

"Pain."

"Weakness."

He looked forward, eyes gleaming faintly red.

"And they will remember exactly who killed them."

Carmilla's lips slowly curled into a smile.

"Oh…"

She liked that.

Very much.

Ding!

[Additional information available.]

Alucard's interest sharpened.

'Continue.'

Ding!

[When a god dies, their Domain becomes temporarily ownerless.]

[Their Authority fragments become collectible.]

Alucard stopped again.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

'Collectible?'

Ding!

[Correct.]

[You have already absorbed a fragment.]

[Authority acquired: War Domain (Partial)]

His smile grew.

Now he understood.

This wasn't just survival.

This was harvesting.

The gods weren't permanently dying.

But their power was absolutely transferable.

Temporary vacancy.

Permanent theft.

Alucard laughed under his breath.

"So every god I kill…"

Ding!

[You become stronger.]

He exhaled.

'…This universe is generous.'

Then he paused.

One final thought forming.

'System.'

Ding!

[Yes, Host.]

He asked calmly—

'Where is Ares now?'

There was a brief pause.

Longer than usual.

Then—

Ding!

[Location: Earth]

[Status: Reborn]

[Condition: Human infant]

Silence.

Alucard froze.

Then slowly—

Very slowly—

He began to grin.

"Oh…"

He whispered.

"That is hilarious."

In a different place

The war room of the Greek Pantheon was silent.

Not the relaxed silence from before.

Not the arrogant silence of assumed victory.

This was the silence of embarrassment.

Zeus sat at the head of the massive marble table, fingers steepled under his chin.

Poseidon leaned against a pillar, arms crossed, face unreadable.

Apollo stared at the floor.

Even Hermes wasn't smiling.

Which was rare.

Very rare.

Then—

Zeus blinked.

He pointed.

"…Hermes."

Hermes tilted his head.

"Yes, Lord Zeus?"

Zeus slowly pointed toward the far wall.

"…Why is there a coffin."

Hermes followed his finger.

There it was.

A large, elegant coffin.

Black.

Gold trim.

Expensive.

Respectful.

Leaning against the wall like it had always belonged there.

And resting on top of it…

Ares's spear.

Perfectly preserved.

Polished.

Placed with care.

Hermes blinked.

"Oh."

He said casually.

"Alucard told me yesterday to order one."

Silence.

Zeus stared at him.

"…He what."

Hermes smiled politely.

"He said, and I quote—"

Hermes cleared his throat and imitated Alucard's calm aristocratic tone perfectly.

"'Prepare a coffin. The God of War deserves proper burial.'"

Silence.

Complete silence.

Apollo slowly turned his head toward Zeus.

Poseidon's eye twitched once.

Zeus's eyebrow twitched.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Then—

CRACK.

The armrest of his throne shattered under his grip.

"…He ordered it before the fight."

Hermes nodded cheerfully.

"Yes."

Poseidon finally spoke.

"…He predicted the outcome."

It wasn't a question.

Hermes answered anyway.

"Yes."

Apollo swallowed.

"…That's not confidence."

He looked toward the coffin.

"That's certainty."

Odin, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.

His voice was calm.

But heavy.

"…No."

Everyone looked at him.

Odin's single eye was cold.

"That is experience."

He leaned forward slightly.

"That is the behavior of a being who has killed gods before."

Silence returned.

Zeus leaned back slowly.

"…Hermes."

"Yes?"

"…Did he say anything else?"

Hermes thought for a moment.

Then smiled slightly wider.

"Yes."

He spoke calmly.

"He asked for twelve more."

'He did say that, but they don't need to know'. Hermes Laughed in his head

Silence.

Then—

Poseidon laughed once.

Not amused.

Not happy.

Just… acknowledging reality.

Zeus covered his face with one hand.

"…We may have made a mistake."

Hermes tilted his head.

"Oh, unquestionably."

Odin stood.

The room grew colder instantly.

"We will not make another."

His eye glowed faintly.

"Tomorrow…"

His voice carried absolute authority.

"We send a real god."

The coffin sat silently behind them.

Waiting.

Finally—

Someone spoke.

He had been silent this whole time.

Watching.

Observing.

Judging.

He wore flowing imperial robes of ancient China, gold dragons woven into the fabric like they were alive. His long beard reached his chest, smooth and perfect. His eyes…

His eyes held galaxies.

Not metaphorically.

Actually.

Stars moved in them.

This was the Jade Emperor.

He rested his chin on his hand, calm and composed.

"So," he said evenly.

"Will any of the Eastern Gods volunteer?"

Silence.

Then—

Every Eastern God immediately backed the hell up.

Chairs scraped.

Sandals shuffled.

One god pretended to cough and moved behind someone else.

Another straight up vanished in a puff of smoke.

"Nope."

"Absolutely not."

"I just got my domain back last century."

"I am NOT becoming mortal again."

"I have taxes now."

"I have responsibilities."

"I have a wife."

"I don't even like fighting."

One of the immortals raised his hand slowly.

"…I died last time. It was very unpleasant."

Another spoke.

"He ate my arm."

The room went quiet.

That god crossed his arms.

"I needed that arm."

The Jade Emperor blinked slowly.

"…I see."

Then—

A calm voice spoke.

"I would like to fight him."

Everyone froze.

Slowly…

Very slowly…

Every head turned.

Standing there was a tall god with wild dark hair, electricity dancing faintly around his shoulders. His posture was relaxed.

Too relaxed.

Like he didn't understand the situation.

Or didn't care.

Susanoo no Mikoto.

Amaterasu's eye twitched.

"Susanoo."

He looked at her casually.

"Yes, sister?"

She pointed at him.

"No."

He blinked.

"…No?"

"No."

"I wasn't asking permission."

"You are not fighting him."

Susanoo frowned slightly.

"…Why?"

Amaterasu stared at him.

"Because you are an idiot."

Gasps.

Susanoo looked offended.

"I am not an idiot."

Tsukuyomi spoke from the side.

"You challenged the sun once."

Susanoo crossed his arms.

"I was curious."

Amaterasu spoke flatly.

"You lost."

"That is irrelevant."

"You cried."

"I did not cry."

"You did."

"That was sweat."

"It was raining."

"We were indoors."

Susanoo paused.

"…Irrelevant."

The Jade Emperor watched all of this calmly.

Then he spoke.

"Susanoo."

Susanoo looked at him respectfully.

"Yes, Your Majesty?"

The Jade Emperor's voice was calm.

"Do you understand who Alucard is?"

Susanoo smiled slightly.

"Yes."

Lightning flickered faintly behind him.

"He is prey."

Silence.

Then—

A voice spoke from the Greek side.

Zeus leaned forward, smiling.

"…Good."

His eyes gleamed.

"Then you will fight tomorrow."

Amaterasu immediately turned.

"No—"

Susanoo interrupted her.

"I accept."

Amaterasu froze.

She stared at him.

"…You fool."

Susanoo smiled.

Confident.

Excited.

Alive.

"Maybe."

He said.

"But I have never fought a vampire before."

He looked toward the arena in the distance.

"I would like to see if he bleeds."

Then—

A spider landed in the center of the table.

Tiny.

Black.

Insignificant.

Zeus didn't even look at it.

"Kill it."

A minor god raised his hand—

The spider laughed.

Not a sound a spider should make.

Not a sound anything small should make.

"Actually," it said casually, "save Susanoo for later."

Silence.

The minor god froze.

The spider's body split.

Stretched.

Twisted.

Legs became arms.

Chitin became skin.

Eyes became human.

A man stood where the spider had been.

Dark skin.

Lean build.

Bare chest.

Red cloth wrapped around his waist.

And a smile.

A dangerous smile.

Odin's single eye narrowed.

"…Anansi."

The Trickster God of Stories grinned wider.

"Hello, Allfather."

Zeus leaned forward, annoyed.

"You dare enter without permission?"

Anansi shrugged.

"I enter wherever there is a good story."

Hermes smiled faintly.

"Then you must be very interested."

Anansi laughed.

"Oh, I am."

He walked casually across the room, ignoring the killing intent aimed at him.

He stopped near Susanoo.

Looked him up and down.

Then clicked his tongue.

"No."

Susanoo frowned.

"No?"

Anansi looked at Zeus.

"Not him."

Zeus's voice was cold.

"Explain."

Anansi's grin didn't fade.

"You are thinking like warriors."

He tapped his head.

"You need to think like hunters."

He pointed toward the arena.

"That vampire…"

His eyes gleamed.

"…cannot be defeated by power."

Murmurs spread.

Thor frowned.

"Everything can be defeated by power."

Anansi laughed.

"No."

He leaned closer.

"That is why Ares died."

Silence.

Zeus's fingers tightened on his throne.

Crack.

The armrest broke.

Anansi didn't react.

He continued calmly.

"You felt it, didn't you?"

He looked at Odin.

"The wrongness."

Odin said nothing.

But he had.

When Ares died.

It hadn't felt like a victory.

It had felt like…

Feeding.

Anansi continued.

"That thing is not just a vampire."

He tapped his chest.

"It is a concept."

Hermes tilted his head.

"…Explain."

Anansi's smile sharpened.

"He grows stronger by killing you."

Silence.

Real silence.

Not ego.

Not pride.

Understanding.

Anansi spread his hands.

"You send strong gods."

"They die."

"He grows stronger."

He tilted his head.

"And then he kills stronger gods."

Zeus spoke slowly.

"…So you suggest we send weak gods?"

Anansi laughed loudly.

"No."

He leaned forward.

"I suggest you send clever ones."

He pointed at his own head.

"Trick him."

"Seal him."

"Outplay him."

He grinned.

"Because if you fight him like warriors…"

His eyes gleamed.

"…you will make him a king."

Silence filled the room.

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

True.

Susanoo smiled.

Excited.

"Good."

Lightning flickered around him.

"I like difficult prey."

Anansi looked at him.

Long.

Carefully.

Then smiled wider.

"Yes."

He stepped back.

"You will be very entertaining."

His body began to break apart.

Turning back into spiders.

Thousands of them.

Before fully disappearing, his voice echoed—

"Oh, and Zeus?"

Zeus's eyes narrowed.

"Yes?"

Anansi laughed.

"You should start preparing more coffins."

Then he was gone.
