Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

"Where is she?"

"I have not seen her since after the class," Lilith sighed.

It was Rain. She had left them abruptly after the class and had been out of sight since. They supposed it must be because of the discovery they made earlier during the class, concerning their dominant emotions. It was not weird that she was spacing out after all; her dominant emotion was the only disturbing one.

Lilith's was love, Lyra's was appreciation of beauty, Linthorn's was interest, Steve's was amusement, Nex's was desire, and Florate's was admiration. It was really awkward that hers was fear, and maybe she decided to space out a bit; she must be in a very bad mood now. But what could she be afraid of?

"I will go see if she is in her room," Florate suggested before leaving Lilith, who simply nodded at what he said. "Oh, and..." he stopped and turned to her.

"Yes?" she raised a brow.

"When I return with Rain in a better mood, prepare to tell us the reason why love is your dominant emotion. I am quite sure we don't know him yet, and we are surely interested to know," he smirked at her before leaving.

"Oh my," Lilith blushed. "I will!" she said loudly after him before leaving for her room too. She was not in the mood for lunch, and she wanted to see Andreas as soon as possible, for she too wanted to tell him that love was her dominant emotion and not other things she felt within her. She just wondered how it would go. But come to think of it, she should really start considering whether to tell Rain and Florate about Andreas or if she should just keep them shut out. But what was the use, when they couldn't even see him. Oh, she was so occupied right now. She simply made her room immediately even if she did not meet Andreas; she really needed to rest her head.

Florate made his way to Rain's room. As he walked down the halls of the dorm, he had just one thing in mind: how was he going to make Rain feel better? He did not know the reason for her fears, but he planned on finding out. He loved her, and he was sure about making her know it. He might not know much about her, but he was certain that a very courageous girl like her should have nothing to fear.

*Knock knock*

He knocked on her door softly, hoping she would answer soon, but she didn't. He knocked again and this time got a faint reply.

"Yes," she answered faintly, with her voice shaking like one who had been crying for such a long time.

"It's Florate," he replied. "I just came to know how you were doing. I am very worried about you, Rain. I hope you are okay. Lilith and I are..." he was still speaking when she opened the door to him. He looked at her in shock. Her hair was ragged, her eyes were swollen, and her face was flushed and wet from tears.

"Come in," she gestured him inside and closed the door immediately. He walked in. She walked past him and went straight to sit on her bed, beckoning him to join her, which he did without hesitation.

"I am so sorry for..." she bowed her head and focused her sight on her fingers. "For making you and Lilith so worried about me, I just needed some time alone." She sobbed a bit, blinking her eyes many times to stop the clinging tears from dropping.

Florate looked at her with so much affection and pain. He was in pain that he could not relieve her of her fears, and it was now hurting her. He was utterly confused about what to do concerning her fear or what it was, but he knew what to do to at least make her feel better. Without warning, he drew his face closer to her and kissed her lightly on her plump pink lips, leaving her with surprised eyes.

"I am here for you, Rain, and I will always be." He drew her into a hug, not waiting for her to be relieved from the shock of the kiss. However, she only began to sob on his shoulders. Loud sobs this time, as she was already too tired to suppress them.

"I am just so scared, Florate," she managed to say, still hugging him tight. "I am so afraid."

"Of what, Rain?" he asked her, obviously very curious to know.

"I am very scared of disappointing my dad, my dead mom, you, and Lilith. I am always never good enough for anyone. My father blames me all the time for my mom's death. Well, I can't blame him; she died immediately after I was born, fourteen years ago. Guess I was such a joy killer. I took away the only thing that lightened up his world, I took my own mother's life. What a cruel daughter I am," she cried. "Do you know why everything here," she looked around her room, "looks so pure and white?" he shook his head.

"Well, it is not because white is my favorite color or anything, it's just that I believe if everything around me becomes pure, then it would somehow rid me of the bad luck. I am just so scared that I will bring ill luck to you and Lilith, the closest people to me now. I am so afraid of losing you too, like I lost my mom, and my dad's love too. I am just so scared, Florate. So scared that I thought you and Lilith had realized how much of a disgrace I am and cut ties with me when Nex had abducted me. I don't want to keep losing people in my life because of my bad luck and ill fate," she kept shedding tears nonstop.

Florate used his palm to wipe the tears on her cheeks, after which he cupped her face. "You, Rain, are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You might think you are bad luck or feel like you bring nothing but pain, but I do not care. I do not care, Rain. I love you, Rain Flake, and I continuously will, and I am sure Lilith does too. We both love and care about you, Rain, so please let go of your fears and live your life in eternal peace. Can I tell you a secret?" he smiled sweetly at her, and she nodded.

"Do you know why my dominant emotion was admiration?" she shook her head vehemently.

"It is because of this." He leaned onto her and kissed her again, this time more passionately than the first. Not too fast, not too slow, but with this soothing motion. But not too long into the kiss, tears began to roll down Rain's cheeks, adding a salty taste to their kiss. Florate pulled away immediately when he tasted her tears. He looked directly into her ocean blue eyes, which were wet from the tears.

"What is wrong?" he asked with affection.

"Thank you, Florate. Thank you so much for loving me. I love you too." She pecked his cheeks.

He hugged her tight once again. "Are you feeling better now?"

"Yes," she nodded with a smile.

"You need to rest. Take a nice nap. Are you hungry?" he stroked her hair as he asked.

"No, I'm not. I just feel a bit dizzy," she massaged her temples. "Then you must rest." He helped her lie down on her bed, then tucked her in perfectly. "I will cover for you in class in case you don't make it. Sleep well, okay?"

"Hmm," she smiled sweetly, and he pecked her forehead before leaving her room.

Rain was now left alone. She felt a lot better now after the talk with Florate. She remembered the two kisses they had earlier, and her cheeks flushed. She was indeed in love. She had thought it was infatuation before, but now she was sure she truly loved him and he loved her too. She only hopes she gets over her belief of being ill-fated, so she would have the best time of her life with him, her Florate, without fear. She may not have had all the time in the world to spend with her mother, whom Florate made her think of all the time, but at least she gets to spend and share precious moments with Florate. But first, she had to get rid of her fear.
