Pansy was in a terrible mood, perhaps even a disastrous one, because Draco had tricked her into thinking he was going on a date with other girls, one of whom was a Muggle-born she despised the most.
It was so bad that she did not feel like attending the Halloween feast. She was stewing in her anger in the Slytherin girls' dormitory, fiddling with a quill at the wooden table. As a way to vent, she had almost stripped all the feathers from it.
"Knock, knock, knock." A series of urgent knocks suddenly sounded from outside the door.
"I won't accept an apology so easily," Pansy thought to herself, but she reluctantly rose from her chair and transformed her resentful expression into an icy one.
"This time it's a matter of principle, I won't be easily fooled." In a brief moment, Pansy ran through countless thoughts.
She seemed to have forgotten that boys could not enter the girls' dormitory.
After opening the door, Pansy saw a pair of large front teeth.
"Is this a demonstration?" The apology she expected did not come; instead, she was met with the Muggle-born she hated the most. Pansy's face turned even colder.
"Mud—" She was about to utter the word when Hermione interrupted her.
"Dra—Draco went to fight a troll alone to find you."
Hermione's face was full of anxiety, her breathing uneven, clearly having rushed over in haste.
"What does that have to do with me?" Pansy was startled, but forced herself to remain expressionless.
"That's a troll," Hermione gestured emphatically.
"Immensely strong, utterly stupid, and with a violent temper. First-year students definitely can't handle it. I noticed you weren't in the dining hall just now, and Draco didn't look well either."
Hermione took a breath and continued, "Then Professor Quirrell rushed in, saying he had discovered a troll. Draco's face changed as soon as he heard, and he immediately ran out."
"How do you know he went to find me?" Pansy's tone was already flustered. She believed it almost entirely, but was still trying to restrain herself.
"You!" Hermione was so angry she could barely speak.
"If it wasn't for you, who else would it be for? His two stupid cronies?"
"I'm going to find Professor McGonagall now. You can stay here," Hermione said, clearly dissatisfied with Pansy's reaction. With that, she turned angrily towards the door.
"Maybe he just wanted to show off," Pansy muttered, her voice growing weaker and weaker. As if making up her mind, she lifted her foot and followed Hermione.
"This is definitely humiliating," Pansy thought bitterly as she trailed behind her.
"I'll put this on your tab, Draco, so you'd better be alright." In the end, however, worry took over, and there was even a trace of sweetness in it. "He actually took such a risk for me. If he's alright, I'll forgive him."
The subsequent events were that the two found Professor McGonagall for help, but the twist was that Hermione remained calm and guided the professors, while Pansy, upon reaching the hall, was infected by everyone's fear.
The thought of Draco possibly having his head smashed by a troll made her eyes turn red involuntarily.
Her later words were tinged with sobs, and Professor McGonagall spent considerable effort comforting her.
But now, seeing the person in question safe and sound, and even "getting close" to another girl, and noticing that this girl's figure seemed even better than her own, Pansy felt that her earlier worry had been utterly wasted.
"Thank you for your help," Penelope Clearwater said hurriedly to Draco, sensing that the atmosphere was awkward, and then turned and left.
Then there was a moment of silence.
"Strike first for advantage," Draco swiftly assessed the situation, stepped forward, and touched Pansy's head, saying, "It's good that you're alright."
In fact, people understand each other better after spending a long time together. After several years of knowing her, Draco had basically figured out Pansy's temperament.
Don't be fooled by her sharp tongue; in truth, she flares up quickly and cools down just as quickly.
On the other hand, Hermione,
Perhaps it is not obvious most of the time, but in her own field of expertise,e she is extremely proud and does not tolerate the slightest doubt. Weren't her earlier conflicts with Harry and Ron caused by this?
"I… I haven't forgiven you y. Let go of me," Pansy said softly.
Pansy felt that the situation between them had reversed. She had clearly come to save Draco, yet now she was the one being comforted. She decided to teach him a small lesson.
"Hiss…" Draco felt a sudden sharp pain in his shoulder and could not help gasping. His hand loosened at once.
"This bite is punishment. I'll spare you for taking a risk for me," Pansy said, feigning triumph as she revealed her white teeth.
"I really suspect you have the talent to become an Animagus. If you did, you'd certainly turn into a dog," Draco muttered while rubbing his shoulder.
Pansy glared at him again.
"Alright, alright, I won't say it." Draco raised his hands in surrender.
"Let's go back to the dining hall quickly," Draco suggested afterwards.
"The smell here is dreadful."
Pansy nodded lightly.
The troll incident finally came to an end. But Draco still had a headache. After returning to the dining hall, he endured Pansy's relentless questioning. Forgiveness did not mean silence.
So when the banquet ended, Draco finally breathed a sigh of relief. Far too much had happened that day.
"Temperamental girls are exhausting," Draco muttered inwardly as he lay back on his bed and quickly fell asleep upon returning to his dormitory.
