Day 30.
The curtains of darkness finally rolled off the sky after two weeks. It was a beautiful morning. No sun was visible in the sky. No heat. No cold. Just pure morning bliss which many used to take for granted.
But the streets were empty. Cars sat abandoned where their owners had left them weeks ago. Shop signs swayed gently in the wind. Not a single human figure could be seen.
Nobody was out to rejoice over seeing the end to the endless nights. They stared with hope and dread at the sky from behind their tightly barricaded houses and bases, waiting with bated breaths to see the countdown drop to zero.

None of them knew what would happen when the timer reached zero. Each passing second was like an invisible noose tightening around their necks.
