Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Lily's Discovery

Early the next morning, the Snape Family and the Malfoy Family set off together for the stadium.

In recent years, as Severus Snape, the potions master, rose to prominence, many pure-blood families extended their hands of friendship to Severus, expressing their willingness to accept them into the pure-blood family circle.

Severus only needed a little maneuvering to formally lead the Snape Family into the pure-blood family circle. Although their status couldn't compare to the sacred twenty-eight, this was still an opportunity many half-blood Wizards dreamed of, but he politely declined every time.

To be honest, when Lucius extended an olive branch to Severus under the guise of business, even he himself hadn't expected the other party to readily agree and bring his entire family to the Quidditch World Cup finals.

Although Severus's sensible cooperation brought Lucius some prestige in the pure-blood circle, everyone complimented his shrewdness, marveling that he had actually persuaded Master Snape.

However, Lucius did not let his guard down. With years of experience navigating the pure-blood circle, he keenly sensed that Snape's acceptance of his invitation also had an ulterior motive... Now it was a matter of who was more cunning and who could hide their intentions better.

The group of six climbed the stairs, which were covered with a magnificent purple carpet, to the luxurious private box at the top. Along the way, only Lucius and Severus occasionally exchanged a few whispered words; the others remained silent, and the overall atmosphere was somewhat awkward.

Narcissa disdained speaking to Lily, who was Muggle-born, and Lily, equally disgusted by the Malfoy Family's pretentious demeanor, naturally wouldn't initiate conversation.

Alexandra, following her father's instructions, tried to strike up a conversation with Harley, but the latter was completely unreceptive — Harley, who had been slacking off since transmigrating, was climbing a dozen flights of stairs for the first time, which she found somewhat unbearable.

Merlin's thong — those British gentlemen at the Ministry of Magic definitely embezzled activity funds; normally, how could VIPs be expected to climb stairs to the VIP section!

After a difficult trek, everyone finally reached the luxurious private box at the top.

By this point, Harley was half-dead. She had no time for anything else, only wanting to find a place to rest her feet quickly.

Harley panted as she chose a purple gilded seat in the front row, right next to a golden pillar, and collapsed onto it, gasping for breath.

This morning's exercise was equivalent to a week's worth for her. At this moment, Harley was in no mood to appreciate the mascots of Scotland and Canada entering the arena; she only hoped her violently pounding heart would calm down soon.

Alexandra hesitated. Although she was somewhat disdainful of Harley's undignified posture, considering her father's instructions, she eventually bit the bullet and sat in the seat next to Harley.

This made Lily, who had been about to sit there, raise an eyebrow in surprise — did the little Malfoy girl have some kind of scheme?

Lily quickly changed her route, turned, and sat directly behind her daughter, deliberately pretending to survey the entire field. Her body, however, cautiously leaned forward, discreetly watching Alexandra's every move from the corner of her eye.

The pure-blood young lady of the Malfoy Family had a conflicted expression on her face, seemingly eager to talk to Harley, but Harley at this moment was like a dying fish stranded on the beach, eyes staring straight ahead, gaze hollow and lifeless, mouth wide open, desperately sucking in the surrounding air, completely unresponsive to anyone.

Alexandra couldn't find a suitable opportunity to strike up a conversation and could only grit her teeth, sitting by and waiting for Harley to calm down on her own.

Speaking of which, isn't her daughter a bit too popular with girls...? Lily couldn't help but fall into deep thought, and images of girls who were usually close to Harley flashed through her mind like lightning: Hermione, who always followed Harley around and was practically inseparable, and Harley's classmates from Muggle school — the well-behaved and cute Jessica, the cheerful Audrey, the gentle and kind Jenny, the enthusiastic Maria, the clever Kate... Besides these, Lily's friend and colleague Jane Zhang's daughter, Cho Chang, who was a year older than Harley, was also a presence not to be ignored; she would specially come over on weekends to feed Harley freshly made Chinese food. And now, there was Alexandra, who was looking for an opportunity to talk to Harley.

Thinking of this, Lily's expression gradually became strange — Severus's long-standing worries seemed to have become a reality in a peculiar way.

The match quickly began. The fourteen players of the Scotland team and the Canada team were already locked in a fierce, inseparable battle in the blink of an eye, with the competition between the two teams entering a white-hot stage!

The Golden Snitch seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace, and the Chasers of both sides could only desperately fight for the Quaffle to score.

Watching the intense Quaffle struggle on the field, Harley suddenly remembered that this final seemed to have lasted for five days — so she would have to stay in this top-floor box for five days?

Thinking of the arduous climb upstairs, Harley felt a wave of despair. For the sake of her health, she decided to eat less, drink less, and move less from now on, staying as still as possible, otherwise, just going up and down the stairs would be enough to make her miserable.

Harley, who didn't want to climb stairs, relied on the stamina Potion given by her parents and managed to hold out until the second night before showing signs of fatigue.

At this point, the duel between the Scotland team and the Canada team was in a stalemate. Both sides exchanged blows without yielding, and the match gradually evolved into a prolonged war of attrition.

The Golden Snitch, symbolizing victory, was like a mischievous pixie, swirling in a corner of the stadium for thirty-six hours without showing itself.

Harley vigorously rubbed her already sore and swollen eyes, letting her fiery red hair fly freely in the biting cold night wind.

"I can't do it anymore..."

Harley let out a big yawn, physiological tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.

"Dad, my eyelids are sticking together..."

Harley leaned against the nearby pillar, listening to the cheers from the distant stadium, her voice muffled as if soaked in cotton, "I want to go back to the tent and sleep."

Snape's black robes were stained with blue paper scraps, which were the confetti from the exploding balloons above the stadium when the Scotland team scored.

He frowned and glanced at his pocket watch — Lily's initials were engraved on its gold case, and the hands already pointed to nine o'clock in the evening.

"I'll take you back." His voice was hoarse from staying up late, but softer than usual.

Harley shook her head. Her mother, Lily, had left the box a few hours ago. At this moment, the Malfoy Family members were still in the box. It would be too impolite if all the Snape Family members left.

"I'll go back by myself. It's only a three-minute walk once I'm out of the stadium — Mom is still in the tent."

Severus nodded at her words and instructed, "Remember to ask your mother to make you a bowl of hot soup."
