Chapter 81: A Call at the Wrong Time
Elias's eyes went wide, a flash of real irritation breaking through the flush already creeping across his face as he stared at Serena.
Touching him was one thing. Using his body to warm her hands was something else entirely.
What caught him off guard most was that Pain Conversion did absolutely nothing for this. When he had stood out by the road and let that soft, needling rain soak into him for more than ten minutes, the skill had blurred the discomfort until his body felt almost pleasantly warm. He had assumed cold would work the same way.
Apparently not.
The instant Serena slid her hand inside his clothes, it felt as though she had opened a door to a walk-in freezer and pressed winter straight against his skin.
"Take your hand out."
At first, Elias had only planned to struggle a little, just enough to keep up appearances. That thought vanished the moment her fingers settled against him.
No flirting. No performance.
