Chapter 129

The Constellation Banquet (3)

Meanwhile, the atmosphere within the banquet hall began to grow subtly tense. The constellations moved from the second floor down to the first, advancing one after another to choose their incarnations. The staircase filled with motion, and their auras blended together, as if the very air had grown heavier than before.

Yoo Joonghyuk moved in silence, followed by Kim Dokja, and the two ascended to the second floor without hesitation. Before leaving, Kim Dokja turned toward Arthur and offered a faint smile. Arthur responded with a nod and a calm wave, and Kim Dokja continued his way upward.

Arthur remained on the first floor for a few more seconds, observing the scene with a cautious gaze.

Suddenly, a constellation's symbol appeared before him. The mark was clear… a reaper of souls. Arthur did not need long to recognize it.

{The Queen is looking for you.}

Arthur's smile widened slightly.

'So they are the supervisors… followers of the Queen of the Dark Spring, Persephone.'

He moved calmly toward the staircase leading to the second floor.

But before he could take another step, he felt something sticky strike his shoe.

Spit.

Arthur stopped in place.

{You bastard… fawning over narrative-grade constellations like a fool.}

Arthur slowly turned toward the source of the voice. He did not need to ask. It was the First Sword of Goryeo, sitting firmly, his eyes gleaming with disdain.

Arthur's expression did not change. He smiled calmly, as if it did not concern him, and turned his body to continue on his way.

But the supervisors immediately stepped in.

{How dare you, you bastard!}

{Are you trying to provoke the Underworld?}

They spoke with clear anger, attempting to impose their authority.

The First Sword of Goryeo let out a light laugh, then stood slowly, a mocking smile forming on his lips.

{And who will stop me? You? You little wretches?}

In the next moment, a terrifying aura erupted from his body.

An immense pressure swept through the area. The body of the First Sword of Goryeo seemed to expand—not in size, but in sheer overwhelming presence. His existence transformed into something akin to a giant standing above all.

Arthur's body trembled violently as he felt the pressure crush against his chest. This was the aura of a narrative-grade constellation… without exaggeration.

He looked at the supervisors. They were drenched in sweat, their faces pale. They were nothing before this overwhelming presence.

'Damn it… and here I was hoping for peace and quiet.'

Arthur took a deep breath. He had relied on the supervisors to end things calmly, but they were the ones who had ignited the spark—and now they could not back down without damaging the Underworld's reputation.

Arthur smiled.

But it was not a smile of surrender.

He began gathering his power within his body, slowly… yet forcefully. He felt its weight spreading through his veins.

He raised his hand with absolute calm.

"Drain."

With that single word, he focused his gaze on the First Sword of Goryeo—and on the hand holding the bottle of drink.

Suddenly—

The First Sword of Goryeo stepped back.

{You bastard… what did you just do?}

Arthur calmly stopped the skill, as if nothing had happened.

"Just… let me go on my way, or—"

{Or what?}

Arthur placed his hand at his waist, where no sword existed. Yet he stood like a true warrior. His hand moved through the air as if gripping an invisible blade, pressing firmly between his palms.

He looked directly into the eyes of the First Sword of Goryeo.

"Or it all ends here… right now."

A dark aura erupted around his body. A cold, oppressive might that crept like death itself.

The First Sword of Goryeo smiled—and this time, it was a smile of excitement.

The blood in both their veins surged.

The First Sword of Goryeo gripped his beautiful sword tightly.

{It's been a long time since my last real fight… entertain me, boy.}

Arthur smiled coldly.

"Oh… I won't entertain you."

Then he lowered his voice.

"I will kill you."

At that moment, all the constellations on both the first and second floors turned their attention toward the staircase. A narrative-grade constellation challenging a human incarnation… and yet, no one mocked him. Not a single word was spoken.

Because the killing intent alone was enough.

It was as though the battle had begun without swords—a clash between two deaths.

Arthur released a tremendous pressure from his body. A dark, blood-soaked force swept through the area, focused entirely on the First Sword of Goryeo.

"When it comes to death and killing…"

He took a step forward.

"I am the Demon of the Sky, Arthur Narin."

Then he said in a steady voice:

"I am the king."

The entire place trembled.

Despite the greatness of the First Sword of Goryeo, and his status as a narrative-grade constellation, pride collapsed in that moment. There was nothing left but killing intent against killing intent.

The aura of death… different names, same meaning.

A demonic aura that could only be forged after killing thousands of humans.

Arthur intensified his aura, merging it with a tiny fraction of the power of Cthulhu he had previously absorbed. It was nothing more than a drop in the ocean of true power, but his body could not withstand more than that.

Since his death, he had used Cthulhu's power carefully—consuming only small portions each time to grow stronger without collapsing.

And now—

His killing intent had become equal to that of a narrative-grade constellation.

The First Sword of Goryeo smiled as a terrifying energy began to gather around him.

{Shall we continue… the second round?}

Arthur smiled calmly, but deep inside, he knew the truth.

'If no one intervenes now… I will truly die… unless I use that—and I really don't want to reveal all my cards here before everyone.'

At that moment—

{Stop.}

A resounding voice dominated the entire banquet hall. Everything fell silent.

{Arthur, do not engage in unnecessary actions.}

{And you, First Sword of Goryeo, it does not suit you to be rude before a human incarnation.}

With a cold tone, the supervisors returned and led Arthur away. The First Sword of Goryeo sat down in irritation and returned to his drink without another word.

Arthur raised his gaze.

She was there.

The Queen of the Dark Spring… Persephone.

Still incarnated in the form of Han Sooyoung, wearing a beautiful black dress, her eyes silently observing everything with solemn dignity.

{It has been a while, Arthur.}

"It has indeed been a while, Your Majesty."

Arthur replied in a tone that carried gratitude, along with a faint trace of his usual sarcasm.

Persephone smiled gently, her expression holding a deeper knowledge than she revealed.

{You have done… pointless things in Tartarus.}

Arthur smiled calmly, then slowly swept his gaze across the place.

All the constellations were incarnated in human forms. Arthur could barely recognize any of them—except for one person, sitting quietly, looking at him with a steady, emotionless gaze.

'The Great Sage, Equal to Heaven.'

Their eyes met for a few seconds. There was neither hostility nor warmth in the Sage's gaze—only silent observation. Then he calmly turned his face away, as if Arthur's existence did not deserve more than that brief glance.

Arthur continued scanning the area.

The Olympus nebula was positioned at the center of the hall, arranged around Persephone herself. To the west stood Vedas, while the north was occupied by those who did not belong to any clear nebula, or those aligned with smaller nebulae—among them the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

As for the south…

It was easy for Arthur to recognize the Eden nebula.

White garments, spread wings, and a pure aura that could not be concealed. And as he looked at them, something else caught his attention.

An angel.

Beautiful beyond reason, wearing a black dress with a demonic tone, standing among Eden as if she were their contradiction. She was looking directly at him. The moment their eyes met, she winked lightly, with a mischievous smile.

'Wait… could it be…'

Arthur narrowed his eyes.

'An angel like a demon… yes, it's her.'

He shifted his gaze away, as if confirming something in his memory, then remembered something important.

"Has the constellation known as the Miracle Narrator… or the Secretive Plotter… attended?"

Arthur turned and asked Persephone directly.

Persephone's expression changed the moment she heard the name. Doubt passed across her face, then confusion, before her features returned to calm. She shook her head.

{I truly do not know.}

Then she added in a more serious tone:

{More importantly… the inheritance of the story will begin soon. Have you made your decision? There are many constellations who wish to inherit the story of your resurrection.}

Arthur slowly shook his head.

"Not yet."

He had not thought deeply about the inheritance of the story. It was true that Kim Dokja had told him some plans, but what was in Arthur's mind was entirely different.

As if Persephone had read his thoughts, she smiled calmly.

{Perhaps you do not wish to choose anyone… but that is not the correct option. Everyone will begin to claim their rights.}

She paused for a moment, then continued:

{They will claim that the story belongs to them alone… and most likely, it will be painful.}

"Then… do you want me to choose Olympus?"

Persephone immediately shook her head.

{No. In fact… I hate those people.}

'Just as Kim Dokja said.'

Arthur recalled his words.

'Persephone and Hades truly hate Olympus. Their relationship has been hostile for a long time… perhaps because of Hades.'

Then he added inwardly:

'But because of that hostility… I am now under the protection of Persephone and the Underworld.'

He smiled faintly.

'It's fortunate that the first narrative-grade constellation I met was Persephone.'

He looked at her and said:

"Then… who do you think I should choose? Vedas? Eden? Or another nebula entirely?"

She replied calmly:

{Listen.}

{No matter what you choose, you will gain enemies. And your enemies will be powerful. The story of resurrection is of great importance to many nebulae.}

{If you choose one… you deny the others.}

"Then… what should I do?"

Persephone smiled in a strange way, a hint of thrill in her gaze as she looked at Arthur. Her expression resembled that of someone who had found a piece of fresh meat served on a diamond plate.

She was… enjoying this.

Arthur breathed calmly, recalling what had happened in the Underworld.

{I am merely sharing my thoughts… is making enemies truly such a big matter?}

Before he could answer, the dokkaebi finally appeared, looking around with visible excitement.

{It is time for the inheritance of the story.}

With the beginning of the inheritance, seven rooms were created for the incarnations.

{Incarnations, please enter the Room of Secrets.}

The Room of Secrets… a place where the incarnation meets the constellation to determine the story, the agreement, and everything that follows.

Everyone entered their rooms one after another. Arthur, Kim Dokja, and Yoo Joonghyuk remained standing. Their rooms were adjacent.

Yoo Joonghyuk on the left, Kim Dokja in the middle, and Arthur on the right.

Kim Dokja looked to his left.

"Let's meet later, Yoo Joonghyuk."

Yoo Joonghyuk did not respond. He took a deep breath and entered his Room of Secrets.

Kim Dokja smiled—he was used to his behavior—then turned toward Arthur.

They exchanged no words.

But Arthur knew.

'He has cooked up a new plan… and a strange one.'

He smiled in amusement.

"Alright… I'm with you."

Then each of them entered his own room.

Arthur sat beside the table inside the Room of Secrets.

The Room of Secrets was one of the most private places in the Star Stream. No constellations, no dokkaebis—no one could know what happened inside after entry was granted.

{You have become the master of the Room of Secrets.}

{You have one hour as the master of the Room of Secrets.}

{Meet as many constellations as possible and choose wisely. Good luck.}

After the three messages, silence filled the room.

Absolute silence.

It was so deep that Arthur, if he focused slightly, could hear the beating of his own heart.

'Alright… who will be first?'

The door moved.

A beautiful yellow book entered, surrounded by sacred text.

{Incarnation Arthur, choose the Festival of Resurrection.}

'So… India.'

Arthur looked at the book coldly.

"You're a delegate, not the constellation that wants to inherit the story. Where is the Master of December 25?"

The Master of December 25 was the most famous Indian constellation, yet he had not come himself, sending a delegate instead.

{Do you think my master has time for the likes of you?}

Arthur's expression immediately shifted from calm to clear irritation.

"Oh? And do you think I have time for you?"

"You are here to beg for the story, not the other way around."

{What did you say?}

"You can leave."

Pure blue sparks gathered around the book, then it disappeared.

'Damn bastard… you want to negotiate while looking down on me? Do you think I'm a fool to choose you?'

Arthur took a deep breath, then looked at the door, waiting for the next.

{Incarnation Arthur… join Olympus.}

{The constellation stabbed in the eye looks at you and laughs.}

'Stabbed in the eye… don't tell me—'

Arthur raised his gaze and saw a wandering man wearing a beautiful crown.

{It seems you know me.}

"Yes… I've heard a lot about you."

The one stabbed in the eye was King Oedipus.

The king who killed his parents without realizing it, and when he understood the horror of his act, he tore out the light of his own eyes as punishment, wandering the world in search of peace.

"Did you come to offer the same proposal as Dionysus?"

King Oedipus smiled calmly.

{No. I am not here for that. Nor am I here to inherit the story.}

"Then… why?"

{The story Olympus will offer you…}

He paused for a moment.

{…is the Festival of Blood.}

"What?!"

The story of the Festival of Blood was one of the most famous stories of Olympus… and one of the most hated.

Not because it was weak.

But because of its horror… and its truth.
