Chapter 14 - The Final Year's Disgrace Strikes Back

Meanwhile, I was already on high alert… the shadows surrounding us twisted unnaturally… and just as I was about to attack, a sharp voice interrupted us from behind.

Both our gazes turned sharply toward the instructor.

Dressed in a clean, sharp suit with neatly combed hair, he stared at both of us expressionlessly.

"Fighting on the school grounds is prohibited. What were you both trying to do?" Narrowing his eyes slightly, his gaze shifted between the two of us.

Mark forced a smile and quickly replied, "I was merely showing him a few skills I'd obtained recently, right, Kai?"

I paused briefly, then similarly smiled faintly and replied,

"We were just discussing our skills."

The instructor's gaze lingered on both of us before he commanded sternly, "If that's the case, head back to class. You can practice your skills some other time!"

Turning toward the surrounding students peeking out of the classroom, his eyes grew cold. "And what are you all staring at?"

At his bark, all the students quickly scurried back inside like scared lambs, rushing into their classrooms.

In no time, the surroundings grew quiet and silent, save for the rustle of leaves and the hushed whispers drifting in from the classrooms.

Mark made a throat-slicing gesture when the instructor wasn't looking before heading back into his classroom.

I unclenched my fist, staring at his back as he left, my eyes flickering with killing intent.

Without another word, I continued toward the classroom.

Moments later, the instructor vanished.

Three minutes later, I arrived at the classroom, and as I'd expected, the lecture had already begun.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the classroom with even steps.

Immediately, the air in the classroom seemed to ripple slightly as all heads turned in my direction.

Taking a closer look at me, everyone's eyes were filled with varying emotions.

The instructor was a middle-aged woman in her late forties, with deep violet hair and dark blue eyes, dressed in a tight-fitting waist-length gown that hugged her curves closely, her twin peaks pressing against the fabric as though they were threatening to spill free.

A golden necklace hung around her neck, its pendant resting near her cleavage, causing one's thoughts to run wild at the sight of her massive mounds.

Internally, I took a gulp at the sight of the beautiful instructor.

She was one of the most beautiful instructors in the academy. However, aside from that, she was also known for her strictness.

"Good morning, Miss Velora," I greeted with a weak smile.

She glanced at me and readjusted her glasses, a movement that caused her chest to press outward even more.

Then her pink lips parted to speak. "Why are you late to class? And why were you absent from school yesterday?"

Immediately, my mind raced as I thought of excuses to give. After a few moments, I quickly replied,

"I had to cover up for some debts back at home."

The instructor's face grew sterner by the second, her eyes flickering with contemplation at my excuse.

Seemingly recalling something, she finally nodded, causing me to breathe out in relief.

"Settle down quickly. Don't disrupt the class."

Although I was relieved that I didn't receive any punishment, recalling the slight sympathy in her eyes made me clench my fist subconsciously.

She must have thought I had borrowed money to purchase the necklace for Elena Von Rose, hence the reason I wasn't present, believing I had overworked myself to pay for it.

The thought also appeared in a few students' minds, however I couldn't say anything more.

As soon as I sat down in my seat, the fifth seat in the middle row, the students seated around me stood up, packing their things and deliberately moving to faraway seats.

In moments, the place surrounding my seat was empty, leaving me completely isolated, the loneliness stinging much deeper than it should.

'Losers! All of them… I'll show them my true power soon!' I growled internally, but didn't say anything more toward the gesture.

It was clear…

No one wanted to sit with the final year's disgrace!

Miss Velora turned back to the holographic display as the room light returned to dimness while she continued her lesson.

Glancing in my direction, she reiterated,

"Yesterday we discussed the feeding habits of animals in the Eternal Continent, and how to take advantage of this as a method of survival."

"As we've consistently told you, before answering the call to the Eternal Continent, it's best to note the common animals that can be found."

"This is called the Wind Eagle. It releases sharp wind blades while feeding on dried leaves."

A creature similar to an eagle appeared on screen. It was snow white, with light patterns engraved across its back.

The image dispersed and coalesced into the form of a massive boar, with two enormous horns that grew like trees, spiraling and forming complex patterns crowning its skull.

"This is the Lightning Boar. It mainly feeds on human flesh, but on very rare occasions it develops an exceptional craving for blood mushrooms, so it's best to have some on you at all times. It could save your life."

I listened attentively, noting that the instructor was purposely repeating some things taught yesterday so I wouldn't fall behind.

The lessons for the day dragged on before slowly coming to an end.

After the last lesson, I stood up and stretched, letting out a slight yawn before regaining myself.

My eyes narrowed slightly… I wasn't tired. I wasn't supposed to be.

But it could only mean one thing.

My call to the Eternal Continent was deepening, and I might fall into it at any time.

I narrowed my eyes slightly and contemplated what to do next.

I had to tell the academy about it. After all, only with their help could I successfully survive the dangers of the Eternal Continent.

After deliberating on what to do next, I turned around and began heading toward the staff office.

Just as I reached the door, a figure loomed over me, towering slightly as his form came into view.

I narrowed my eyes and whispered under my breath.

"Mark…"

A grin spread across Mark's face as he stepped into the classroom, forcing me to take a few steps back.

Behind him were his goons, following closely.

The students inside the classroom quickly let out screams and ran out, unwilling to remain and witness what was about to happen next.

"It seems we have some unfinished business, Kai."
