The Cullens immediately shot to their feet.
"They're here?" Carlisle questioned.
"Yes." Alice said, nervousness highlighted in her tone.
Carlisle turned towards everyone.
"Get ready, remember we play defense, and try to buy time."
"Don't attack unless they attack us first, I will try and buy us time through conversation."
Everyone nodded.
"Let's go."
Everyone walked towards the door
Silas and Alice fell to the back, Alice was holding his hand.
"Are you sure we'll be alright?" She whispered in Silas's ear.
Silas looked at her and nodded.
Just then they stepped outside.
They got into a type of barricade position.
A minute later they heard footsteps come from the forest.
It seems they aren't being subtle.
A few seconds later two figures burst out from the trees ahead.
It was two familiar figures.
James and Victoria.
They stopped twenty meters in front of them.
"We've got a welcome committee." Victoria joked.
James smiled.
"Indeed, and all this just because of some human girl."
"But then again, this makes it all more exciting."
Carlisle frowned.
"We know why you're here, we won't let you get Bella."
James tiled his head.
"Are you sure?"
Carlisle's frown deepened.
"Even if you are five, we won't just yield." He said dissatisfied.
James and Victoria froze for a second, then looked at each other.
Five? Since when?
But they saw the opportunity and played along.
"Hehe, but some of you might die… do you wanna take the chance just for this human?" James provoked.
Edward stepped forward, but Emmett grabbed him.
He looked back and saw Emmett shaking his head at him.
"Let Carlisle handle this." He whispered.
Edward shot a glare at James then calmed down.
James saw their little interaction and narrowed his eyes.
"Do you think I'm stupid?"
Carlisle was taken aback.
"You're stalling for time, let me guess, you're waiting for reinforcements."
Carlisle's expression cracked for a second, but it was enough for James to see.
"Haha, like we'll give you the chance."
In the woods further away, Viktor, Cessian and Gregor were watching the show.
"What an arrogant little bastard." Gregor cursed.
"Indeed." Cessian agreed.
Viktor looked at them.
"Remember, we don't know the master, we have to do this undercover."
"If you have to give a reason for attacking them, then we have personal grievances with them, alright?"
Cession nodded.
"Do you think we've already forgotten?" Gregor mumbled.
Viktor glanced at him.
"You never know when you're involved." Viktor said snarkily.
Gregor shot him an angry glare.
Cessian stepped in to calm them down.
"Focus, we need a good time to jump in."
"And Gregor, save that rage for the fight, show the master what you're made of, and you might also gain his favor."
Gregor calmed down.
"You're right, the mission comes first."
Silas who was standing at the back of the barricade with Alice had heard their entire conversation.
What could he say? He was speechless.
Just then James rushed towards Jasper who was in front of them.
Silas nodded.
That's right, focus on the strongest in the team.
But just as he was happy about James's choice, he was face to face with him.
Jasper had side stepped and James didn't bother to chase, so he rushed towards Silas.
"You're hiding at the back, you must be weak, I'll take you first."
Silas was confused.
No brother… I was just complimenting your choice, now you're after me?
Alice panicked; she was just about to step forward, but it was too late.
James was right in front of Silas.
She had never seen him fight, although he had said he was strong, she didn't know.
James reached out his hand towards Silas's face, he thought victory was in his grasp.
But just then he hit with a force that felt like a freight train, then sent flying through the air.
Whilst they had been busy, Viktor, Cessian, and Gregor had been observing for the perfect time to jump in.
They had just gotten it.
"Hey… isn't that James moving a little weird?" Gregor asked.
Cessian looked closer.
"Now that you say it… Wait! He's feinting, he's going for the master."
Gregor's eyes shot open.
"Hurry, take him!" Cessian loudly whispered to Gregor.
"I'm on it." Gregor shot from the tree he was standing on and rushed towards James.
He had anticipated where James would be when he arrived, and rushed towards there.
A few seconds later, he crashed right into James, sending him flying.
Carlisle had already rushed towards them, he heard when Greogor took off from the tree.
"Someone is coming!"
He arrived just as James flew out, he had to dodge James's flying body that flew straight past his face.
"Wh… what!?" Carlisle was confused.
Were they not friends? Why are they attacking each other?
Alice was just as confused, she was standing frozen watching the figure who had just appeared a few meters away.
It was a slovenly man, with a fierce aura.
He was glaring in the direction James had flown towards.
Victoria on the other side of the battlefield was shocked.
What happened? Did James change appearance?
She turned her head and saw James disappearing and a strange man taking his place.
"Who… who are you?" She asked in confusion.
Gregor turned his attention towards her. He then turned his entire body facing her direction.
This caused Victoria to take a step back. She had just seen what had happened to James.
God knows how far he flew.
Just as Gregor was about to pounce, a voice rang out.
"Gregor, calm down."
Everyone turned.
Another man stood perched on a branch above. Slovenly like Gregor, but there was something different about him.
Something more refined, you could tell he was an intellectual.
He had a more elegant air about him.
Gregor smacked his lips, but he stepped down.
Before anyone could recover, footsteps echoed beneath the tree.
Everyone's eyes dropped.
A figure was stepping out of the darkness, his hands clasped behind his back.
He walked calmly and elegantly.
The moonlight caught him.
His face came into view first, it was cold and composed.
Then came his eyes, they were red and shone unnaturally under the bright light, like embers.
They moved across the group without hurry, only slowing down for a second as they passed over Silas.
"It's you!" Ella gasped.
Jasper took a step forward in surprise.
Carlisle moved towards them.
"You know him!?"
Ella and Jasper looked at each other and hesitated.
"He… he was the one who beat us, in the woods, remember?"
Carlisle's eyes locked onto the man's face. It was… familiar.
"We meet again, you two, I apologize for our last meeting, but you wouldn't take a no for an answer." Viktor said.
Silas watching this scene rolled his eyes.
If only they knew he watched Desperate Housewives in his free time.
"Who are you?" Carlisle asked apprehensively.
His instincts told him that this man was familiar and dangerous.
Viktor smiled slightly then raised his head towards the moon.
"Me? I'm Viktor, no one special."
The night went silent.
Realisation flashed across Carlisle's face.
There's no way… how could it be?
...
Enjoy. Mwah~
