Silas watched as the two girls walked towards the steps without him.
Was there something I've missed? Silas dejectedly followed them.
Didn't I check the calendar before stepping out today?
Is it the "be sassy towards Silas day"?
Just as he was wondering this he felt a strong hand land on his shoulder.
"Brother, why the long face?" Emmett asked as he fell in beside him.
Silas glanced over at Emmett.
At least Emmett is as usual, that's something…
"Nothing, it's just that Alice and Kate are having an attitude towards me."
Emmett glanced up at the two girls who had already ascended the stairs.
"Meh, don't worry about them, women are hard to understand."
Hearing this Silas let out a chuckle.
"Amen to that."
Then both Emmett and Silas laughed.
When they arrived at the top of the stairs Alice and Kate were gone, but Silas still looked around.
"Where is Rosalie?"
Emmett smiled brightly.
"You won't believe this, but Rosalie has recently started to want to play video games with me."
"Really!?" Silas responded with just the right amount of surprise.
Emmett opened the door and held it up for him as he stepped inside.
"Yeah, it's crazy, she was always so adverse to me playing video games before, saying they were for children."
Silas nodded then said.
"That sounds like Rosalie."
Emmett hummed in agreement.
"But now she's started to want to play with me, which is like… every man's wet dream."
"Indeed." Silas responded absentmindedly.
Just then they arrived at Emmett's locker.
"But what does that have to do with me asking where she was?" Silas questioned.
Emmett grabbed his math book and closed his locker.
"You won't believe this."
"Try me."
Emmett grinned.
"We played Tekken 5 last night, and I was winning brutally."
"So this morning Rosalie didn't want to go to school… she wanted to keep playing."
Emmett grinned even wider.
"She said she was gonna beat me! Hahhah!"
Silas nodded with a smile.
"Haha, yeah of course she never will… but what if she does?" Silas supported Emmett but also wanted to prepare him… you know, just in case.
Emmett scoffed and shook his head.
"No way, I've spent so much time playing games, there's no way she will catch up with my skills just like that."
They arrived at Silas locker and he started to fiddle with the lock.
"Maybe…"
"But what if?"
Emmett looked at his math book and rubbed his thumb over the glossy finish.
"If she does? Then I'll have to practice…"
Then Emmett stopped for a second and looked up at Silas, his eyes shining.
Clearly he had gotten an idea.
"Silas, if that happens and that's a big if… but if she gets better than me, you'll coach me, right?"
Silas had just closed his locker when he heard this.
"We'll see." Then he started walking.
Seeing Silas's unwillingness, Emmett got anxious.
"Come on brother, please, you wouldn't let me lose to my noob wife?"
"Plus the chances are so low she'll win against me… just put my mind at ease and agree."
Silas didn't want to for one simple reason.
He had a feeling Emmett was going to get a rude awakening and lose to his wife in his most beloved hobby… video games.
Then he didn't want to be burdened with becoming his Yoda.
They soon arrived at the math classroom under Emmett's incessant begging.
"Silas, for your good brother."
"Please!"
"I beg you!"
Finally Silas couldn't hold back.
"Fine! But if you don't shut up, I'll coach your wife instead."
Emmett immediately smiled, but upon hearing the second part his face turned serious.
"I'll be quiet." After he said that he made a locking motion at his lips.
Seeing that Silas nodded contentedly.
He then focused on the equation on the board.
The math teacher had just finished writing it up.
When the entire class was gathered the math teacher stood at the front and smiled.
"Hello class, today I got a challenge for you."
The students perked up.
"If you can solve this equation you can leave, but if you can't then just work honestly for the rest of the class."
All the students' attention turned to the equation on the board
After looking at it for a few seconds they all scratched their heads in confusion.
Were they supposed to solve this?
Silas on the other hand was excited.
He just needed to solve this then he could leave? Don't mind if I do.
He quickly took out a piece of paper and started to solve the equation a few minutes later he was done.
Silas reached up his hand and waved at the teacher.
He quickly walked over.
"What's your question, Silas?" The teacher asked.
Silas handed him the paper.
"I solved it."
"You solved it?" The teacher responded in surprise and doubt.
He knew Silas was skilled at math, but to solve this equation this fast…even he as a teacher couldn't do it.
Of course he knew the answer… but if he didn't.
He looked at Silas's paper with skepticism, but after reading just the first row he was surprised.
Going to the end of the paper he found the answer.
It was right!?
He looked up from the paper and then at Silas.
"Wow! I must say Silas, you've surprised me."
Silas nodded.
"Thank you, sir… can I leave now?"
Huh?
The teacher was silent for a second.
He didn't actually believe any student would solve this equation so he had made that promise.
But now one against all odds had succeeded, and he couldn't break his word.
"Yeah… you can go, but don't make too much noise, the other students are still having class."
Silas packed up.
"No problem, sir."
When he walked out he felt the rest of the class envious gazes on his back.
Some have it good, while others got math.
He quickly headed towards the library, that was the only place where he could sit with a table.
He wanted to sit outside… but it was drizzling slightly and so he didn't wanna get wet.
When he arrived at the library it was empty, which was not surprising.
Nearly everyone else had class at this time, and who would skip class to sit in the library?
He walked around and found a table close to the window, he now had a nice view and peace and quiet.
What more could you ask for? Maybe something to eat…
He opened a book he had found while looking for a table.
Now, let's just read until it's time for the next class.
...
Yay! New week new chapters!!!
Hope you enjoy. Mwah⁓
