The teacher began to rant about the day's lesson, and soon he had talked away most of it.
For the rest of the class we mostly discussed some questions he had written up on the board, you know to give our own hypothesis.
Do you think snow makes the earth colder because it's cold? Or because it reflects light away from the ground, hindering the earth from absorbing heat?
If you said because it reflects light… you would be correct. Also, not sure how this has anything to do with biology.
The next question did.
Why does condensation appear on glass when you breathe on it?
Is it because of cell respiration? Is it that it causes a chemical reaction when your mitochondria produce energy so that it also creates water as a waste product?
Class passed fast as Kate and Silas discussed these questions.
As the class ended Silas stood up and stacked his books on top of each other.
As he turned to walk he was met with Kate standing looking at him, with her phone out.
She looked a little hesitant.
"What's up?" Silas asked.
Hearing this Kate seemed to have come to a decision.
"Would you want to exchange phone numbers?" She looked at Silas with some trepidation and anticipation.
Silas raised an eyebrow then smiled.
"Sure." He took out his phone. His contact list was rather dry, he only had Viktor, Mikael, and Cessian. Gregor doesn't even have a phone, he shares it with Cessian.
He stood beside Kate as they put each other's names and phone numbers into their phones.
He was taller than Kate by quite a lot so he could see her phone screen, and her contact list was dryer than his.
She only had: Mom, Sophie(Sis).
That was it.
Anyway, soon they were done exchanging numbers, and they separated for today.
Silas was walking towards his locker, it was time to leave his stuff. As he walked he pondered what he should do when he gets home.
He arrived at his locker and fiddled open the lock, he put his book, notebook, and pen in, then closed it.
He started walking out, arriving on the parking lot he made his way towards his car.
He opened the car door and sat down in the cool and soft leather seats. Some people don't like leather seats, they prefer textile, but I like leather, especially in colder climates.
Silas leaned his head back on the head rest. Just as he was sitting there contemplating life he saw the Cullens walk out of the school.
"Hey Alice, why do you look so depressed?" Emmett asked, then he quickly followed up with.
"Is it because you didn't get to say `bye` to Silas?"
Alice, who had been about to answer him, turned her head away and pouted. You just bully me.
Jasper and Ella appeared beside them. Ella walked up beside Alice and said.
"You can ask Silas for his number tomorrow, then you can just text him or call him to ask about his day, no need to wait around."
Alice looked thoughtful.
"Is that a good idea?"
Ella smiled and nodded, Jasper behind them also nodded. But just then a destitute voice spread out.
"NO! I haven't gotten my good brother's phone number yet." It was Emmett.
Everybody turned to look at him, they had thought it was something serious.
Rosalie was walking quietly, not engaging in the conversation.
Alice then seemed to think about something and looked at her.
"Aren't you going to object?"
Rosalie looked over and said through gritted teeth.
"Although I don't really like him… he doesn't seem dangerous."
Alice and Emmett nodded like she had just understood some math assignment they'd been trying to teach her.
Rosalie looked at them and then shook her head, but in her heart she thought: He's just very manipulative.
They arrived at their cars and got inside.
Silas was feeling relieved, he wasn't worried per se, but he would prefer it if Rosalie wasn't suspicious of him.
Don't mistake her apparent dislike for him as the truth, in her heart she has already accepted him as someone allowed around her.
Silas started his car and started to drive home, it was time to sit down on the couch and drink something tasty and read a book.
He was casually speeding on his way home. Car accidents? What is that?
As he arrived home, he walked inside and was quickly greeted by Viktor.
"Hello master, how was your day?"
Silas nodded and said.
"It was good, have you been honest while I was at school? Or have you caused trouble?"
Viktor smiled fawningly.
"I've been very honest, master. I read a book, took a stroll around the garden, and then I watched a movie, I think it was called Die Hard…" He looked thoughtful.
"The main character shot a guy and screamed `yippiee ki yay, motherfucker`."
Viktor looked satisfied. I had to use that line myself some time.
Silas smiled and shook his head in amusement. What a vampire.
"Good."
Silas then walked past him into the kitchen, grabbed a cola, walked towards the living room, then sat down on the couch, he looked around and found his book on the stand to the side.
Sigh. Relaxing.
He started to read, he had gotten into a really boring part of the book.
He started to feel increasingly drowsy. Unconsciously he shifted into a more comfortable position.
He didn't need to sleep, but slowly he felt himself drift into the caring embrace of sleep.
The book lay on his lap, and his head was leaned back on the neck support, he was deep sunken into the couch and nearly half lying down.
Sometimes, even an immortal emperor is nothing more than a mortal in his own mind.
The recent couple of weeks had worn on him, not physically, not in flesh, no, nothing could truly wound him. But somewhere deep inside, somewhere more human… there he was tired.
The soft, rhythmic sounds of breathing rang out. It was not the breath of a legendary figure, no, just a man's.
CHAPTER END.
