Chapter 307: Ash's Battle
"Aggron, use Iron Tail!"
"Sharpedo, time it right and use Bite!"
Aggron regained its focus, its tail glowing with white light as it twisted its body and swung its tail toward Sharpedo.
Seeing the tail swinging toward it, Sharpedo's white teeth flashed with a hint of dark energy. Just as Aggron's Iron Tail was about to strike, Sharpedo opened its mouth and firmly bit down on that pale, massive tail.
"Aggron!"
Feeling the pain in its tail, Aggron thrashed it repeatedly, trying to shake Sharpedo off.
Sharpedo refused to let go, biting down even harder the more Aggron struggled.
"Aggron, use those rocks to get Sharpedo off!" Roxanne advised.
"Aggron!"
Aggron understood instantly and swung its tail, smashing it against the nearby rocky hill.
Seeing this, Ash commanded: "Sharpedo, use Aqua Tail!"
"Sharpedo!"
Sharpedo gathered water around its body and rammed straight into Aggron's head.
Roxanne frowned slightly. "Aggron, hold on!"
"Aggron!"
Aggron forced itself to stand up again.
"What a tough Aggron. To get hit by a Water-type move at such close range and still be able to stand up!" May remarked.
"Ms. Roxanne has raised her Aggron very well. It must have undergone specialized training to overcome its weaknesses," Brock explained.
"Training to overcome weaknesses?" May pondered, then asked, "Does that mean its resistance to Water-type moves has increased?"
"Exactly. Generally speaking, Rock or Ground-type Pokémon are very afraid of water. Aggron's primary type is Steel, but its secondary type is still Rock, so it instinctively fears getting close to water.
However, Ms. Roxanne's one didn't show any fear of water even in rainy conditions; it must have been specifically trained."
"Mr. Brock's analysis is correct. My Aggron has indeed undergone targeted training recently."
Roxanne readily admitted to Brock's speculation.
"Aggron, next, use Stone Edge!"
"Aggron!"
Aggron let out a roar, and two beams of white light appeared around its body. The light circled it, quickly forming sharp stone pillars.
"Sharpedo, use Hydro Pump!"
As the Stone Edge attack approached, Sharpedo opened its massive mouth and blasted a powerful stream of water, not only shattering the stone pillars but also striking Aggron.
Boom!
"Aggron is unable to battle!"
"Aggron, you worked hard."
Roxanne recalled Aggron and immediately took out a Poké Ball. "Come out, Probopass!"
[Pokémon: Probopass]
[Type: Rock + Steel]
[Gender: Female]
[Level: 58 (Elite-tier Advanced)]
[Ability: Magnet Pull]
[Potential: Elite]
[Moves: Sandstorm, Flash Cannon, Thunder Wave, Earth Power, Power Gem...]
Seeing the Pokémon Roxanne sent out, Brock exclaimed, "Wow, Ms. Roxanne's Probopass is also very well-raised. This height is far above the average of 1.4m—it's nearly two meters tall—and its gaze is very sharp!"
"Probopass, huh?"
May took out her Pokédex again to look up the information.
"Probopass, the Compass Pokémon, the evolved form of Nosepass..."
"Rock and Steel-type? Why is it still Steel-type..."
On the field, Ash took out a Poké Ball. "Return, Sharpedo."
"It's your turn to shine, Milotic!"
Looking at the Milotic Ash released, Roxanne couldn't help but sigh in admiration, as both its physique and the luster of its scales were better than anything she had seen before.
"As expected of a two-time League Champion; even a random Pokémon can be raised so brilliantly. No wonder Professor Oak warned me to take Ash's Gym challenge seriously."
"Milotic, use Water Pulse."
"Milotic!"
Milotic fired a blue water orb at Probopass.
"Probopass, use Power Gem!"
Facing Milotic's attack, Probopass fired a beam of light that shone like a gemstone to block it.
Boom!
The two different powers collided, creating a violent reaction.
"Very good. Probopass, next use Sandstorm!"
After blocking the attack, Roxanne ordered Probopass to clear the weather that Sharpedo had set up.
As the Sandstorm kicked up, the rain on the field ceased abruptly, replaced by a sky full of sand and dust.
Probopass's figure instantly vanished into the swirling sand.
Unable to see its opponent, Milotic began to panic.
Ash commanded: "Milotic, aim for the 11 o'clock direction and use Aqua Tail!"
Hearing Ash's words, Milotic wrapped its tail in water and lashed out fiercely in the direction Ash indicated.
Slap!
Boom, boom!
Two muffled sounds echoed, and then the Sandstorm suddenly subsided.
Probopass was seen frowning, looking at Milotic in pain, with a clear mark of the water strike on its large red nose.
Seemingly noticing Roxanne's confusion, Ash said sheepishly: "Ms. Roxanne, Probopass is too large; a Sandstorm isn't enough to hide its tracks."
"Ash, your strength is indeed greater than many Trainers, but how will you handle this next move? Probopass, use Thunderbolt!"
The large nose made of Magnets on Probopass's body and the hat on its head glowed with white light, and then a powerful electric current struck toward Milotic.
"Milotic, use Safeguard!"
Just as the current was about to hit Milotic, a pale green shield appeared in time to block the electricity.
Seeing this, May was very confused: "Eh? Isn't Thunderbolt an Electric-type move? Why can Probopass use it?"
"Probopass has powerful magnetic force in its body; where there is magnetic force, it is possible to generate electric current," Brock explained.
"Milotic, next use Hydro Pump."
"Probopass, use Tri Attack to block it!"
Probopass emitted three different colored beams, meeting Milotic's Hydro Pump attack.
Boom!
The two skills collided, causing another violent reaction.
After a few rounds of offense and defense, both Pokémon had exhausted some stamina, but relatively speaking, Milotic still had the upper hand.
"Let's decide this in one move, Ash!" Roxanne proposed.
Ash didn't hesitate. "Alright!"
"Probopass, use your final Flash Cannon!"
"Milotic, use Hydro Pump with full power!"
The two skills collided again, and after the two different energies stalemated for five seconds, Probopass was the first to show signs of exhaustion. Milotic's Hydro Pump seized the opportunity and broke through Probopass's Flash Cannon in one go.
Under the powerful water current, Probopass was blasted until it fainted and fell to the ground.
Seeing this outcome, the referee was stunned for several seconds before shouting loudly: "Probopass is unable to battle, so the winner of this match is Ash from Pallet Town!"
"Ash actually defeated Ms. Roxanne even when she was going all out. He's so amazing!" May looked at Ash's figure, her eyes full of admiration.
"Ash, you and your Pokémon are truly strong. This battle with you today has taught me so much. Please, accept this Stone Badge!" Roxanne said with a serious expression.
Ash took the badge and said modestly, "Not at all, we just did our best."
"Regardless, I still want to thank you and May today. I believe my students will gain some insight from the video of today's battle, and your spirit is also worth learning from."
