I stared at this man who kneeled in front of me, holding my hand. His eyes were filled with guilt and this immense pain I had never seen. Cliff always proved me wrong. The expectations I held for him, he always surpassed them. How could this man; the only heir of the Grahams, be here kneeling to a nobody like me?
"You ruined nothing, love. If anything, I did. I was insensitive. Over my anger, it's your happiness that matters," Cliff remarked, his voice calm and soft, barely rising up. He kissed my hand as he kneeled down on the floor. This man who was born in pride and money no one in this country could come close to was kneeling in front of me begging for forgiveness. I didn't know if I should consider this a dream or a gift from Mom.
