When I woke up, my SP and HP were fully restored. I looked around. I was hiding inside a hole in the labyrinth wall, and there was no other path besides moving forward.
I moved my eight legs as if it were something completely natural to me and peeked my head out. 'Wow, my vision improved a lot after I became a spider.' Ah, wait— is that really something I should be thinking about at a time like this?
I turned around and hid again.
'I still haven't accepted this, you know? God, send me back to my world!'
After an awkward silence, nothing happened. I mentally sighed and lay down at the bottom of the damp hole. As I lay there thinking about what to do, I felt my stomach begin to hurt.
Not just hurt—it started growling too.
'Oh, come on, don't get hungry now, you stupid stomach!' I mentally sighed in disappointment and opened my status to check it again.

Editing LV1
'Wow, isn't that a lot? No… actually, it's not. I still remember the beginning of the story—Kumoko had way more skills.'
But honestly, I'm not her. She's the protagonist of this world.
'Speaking of her, was she among those spiders that were running away? A lot of them fled.' To be honest, I wish I had stayed by her side from the start. I don't have that much knowledge about the story.
Besides, it's always safer to stick with the protagonist.
Huff~~
I sighed mentally again and looked back at my status.
Average Offense Ability: 1,000
Editing is still active, so there's no cooldown or anything like that. However, I can't edit more than one stat at a time. If I try to edit my defense…
[ Error: Skill level too low ]
Seeing these errors makes me depressed.
I looked outside the hole and then—
[ Skill proficiency achieved ]
[ The skill "Night Vision LV2" has become "Night Vision LV3" ]
Since no light reaches this place, my skill leveled up again. 'Hmm…' Seeing the system message, I thought about following the original story and tracing Kumoko's steps, at least for now.
I remember she bought the skill "Appraisal," and it cost exactly 100 points. Can I buy it too? It's a pretty important skill for the progression of the story.
It will help me assess my enemies. I need to be careful in this place.
I don't have battle experience, and I'm definitely not a strategist.
So I purchased "Appraisal LV1" using the world's system. It was surprisingly easy.
[ The skill "Appraisal LV1" has been learned ]
I immediately tried to appraise the labyrinth wall, and the only thing that appeared was—
[ Wall ]
Just as I expected…
And then again—
Grrrr~~
My stomach growled loudly.
I tapped my other legs against the ground, trying to build up the courage to get up. When I couldn't endure the hunger any longer, I stood up to hunt. I feel like I'm going to go crazy from hunger! I've never felt anything like this before!
If I don't eat, I'll die.
'Urgh, what if I try making a web to catch something without having to fight?'
####
After some time trying, I started using my thread to build something. Unlike Kumoko, I couldn't make a web that inspired any confidence.
While building it, I unlocked a new skill called "Thread Control." Basically, a spider-type ability. On top of that, Spider Thread leveled up to Level 2.
Walking on top of the web I had just built, I thought, 'If a monster falls into this trap of mine, it's an idiot. But seriously, I'm starving.'
After five more minutes, no monsters appeared.
Growing impatient from hunger, I decided to look for food myself.
'I received this Editing skill for a reason.'
I removed the edit I had applied to my strength and made a new one.
Average Speed Ability: 37
[ Edit Applied ]
Average Speed Ability: 1,000
As soon as I edited my speed, I began searching for a monster. I moved at high speed, keeping an eye on my SP so I wouldn't die from exhaustion. Fortunately, I found a monster quickly.
The moment I saw it, I hid.
Hop! Hop! Hop!
I observed the large multicolored frog. It was bigger than me. I looked at my SP and saw that a good portion had already been drained. So I deactivated the edit on my speed and reapplied the edit to my strength.
Once again, my strength rose to 1,000.
I stared seriously at the frog as it hopped around and waited for it to turn its back.
'Here I go!' With its back turned, I approached as fast as I could, keeping "Appraisal" active.
[ Elroe Frog ]
I can only see its race.
In an instant, I closed the distance and tried to strike it with my front legs. However, my spider legs were short, and the frog reacted in time. It jumped and struck me with its legs.
'He did that by accident!? You've got to be kidding me!'
Now aware of my presence, the frog looked at me. Its eyes glowed faintly with a vivid color.
'Tsk!' I clicked my tongue mentally and started running when I sensed something dangerous approaching.
Then, something viscous flew toward me.
Where the sticky liquid landed, smoke rose as if the ground were being corroded.
'Acid.'
Feeling confident, I deactivated the edit on my strength and boosted my speed instead. In the next moment, I disappeared from the frog's sight—it couldn't keep up with my movements.
I can't control my body very well at this speed, but that's fine.
Within seconds, I was directly above the frog. I dropped onto it, and while still in the air, I deactivated the speed edit and boosted my strength back to 1,000. The moment I landed, I attacked with all my legs.
I killed it instantly, and its body was crushed against the ground.
However, I did lose some HP.
I stepped off its body, and my stomach growled again.
'I guess I'll have to eat it.'
