Chapter 1 - Like a cat in a strange garret.

When Trey woke, he didn't quite understand what he was looking at, who he was, or where he was. It was as if he were just a rat dropped into a cage to be experimented on. He stared up at the "sky" this sky being a white sheet infinitely high in the air, he reached his hand up to try and touch it but his hand passed through nothing at all, proving he wasn't trapped in a white box.

"Trey" he spoke his name out loud

"That's who I am? Trey…"

He wasn't confirming his identity but the title of such.

Trey stood up and looked at his surroundings, white as far as the eye could see in every direction. There was one interruption in the white void: a black tower off in the distance. The tower was distorted and strange, its structure twisted and distorted, different shapes making up the tower, and trees growing from the sides of it. Trey didn't know what to make of the tower, he was stunned by the structure. Something drew him to it, he didn't know what it was but even so, his feet started moving to approach the tower. When his feet fell to the white ground it made a sound akin to water however there was no wetness on the ground and no ripple. Sounds in this space were awfully dull, there was no echo when his feet fell to the floor, and when he spoke or breathed it was as if things were just a bit quieter.

As he walked towards the tower Trey had time to think, time wonder. He tried his hardest to remember his past or how he got to this mysterious place but only flickers of random people he couldn't recognize and locations he had no recollection of appeared in his mind. It seemed that, for now at least, he was a completely blank slate, a puzzle box yet to be deciphered. Trey could only think "What could I have possibly done on earth to earn me this fate?" But of course, no answer would come. All that filled him was curiosity.

When he finally reached the tower he could more clearly see the variety of trees that grew from the structure and the variety of shapes that made up its body, it completely defied the laws of physics, in fact it defied any logic at all. Trey stood in front of the door and clenched his jaw tight as he stared at the mix of materials that made it up, metal, wood, and plastic all coming together to form this rectangular gateway that would lead him into the mystery of this tower. He felt a cold shiver run down his back and hesitantly reached for the handle, when he placed his hand on the handle it turned to water and splashed down onto the sheet of white ground, making him gasp and step back.

"Shit…" he muttered as he whipped his hand to dry it.

Trey placed his hand on the door and pushed it open, walking inside the tower. The inside of the tower was a simple spiral staircase with dark brick walls, not matching at all with the tangled structure he saw on the outside. His lips hung agape as he turned to check the outside of the tower but he found the path out was gone.

"No, no, NO!" Trey screeched as he stepped back and took a ragged exhale.

"What the fuck is going on here!? Where am I!? What's going on?" He dragged his hands across his face.

Trey took a fine moment to collect himself and clear his head on the situation, he realized that this was all he had for now so he'd have to work with it as long as he was breathing. As Trey took his first step up the stairs, he felt a grip on his wrist, when he turned to see who had grabbed him he found no one. Once again a cold shiver ran down his spine as he let out a shaky exhale and began a speed walk up the stairs, a harsh attempt to escape the eerie feeling that was starting to consume him. It took him 20 seconds of constant climbing to reach the first platform of the tower, on the platform was a dark wooden door with a silver knob. "There shouldn't be a door here" he thought to himself as he ran his hand across the wood. He knew that with how the tower was structured externally there was no space where he currently was that allowed for a room. It wouldn't make sense if this were a regular tower anyway.

His hand came to rest on the knob and he twisted it to gingerly push the door open, his eyelids spacing out as he saw a messy scene before him, a literal stone jungle. Trees made of stone and ground covered in ash and rocks, no soil or grass to be found. Trey inched out to this stone jungle observing his surroundings as the door shut behind him. When he turned around he didn't see a tower or even a doorframe just more stone trees and crumpled floors.

"I'm in hell." Trey came to that simple conclusion from the madness that he had to endure since he woke up in this realm.

"If you were in hell, I wouldn't be here." The soft, gentle voice of a woman spoke up from behind him. When he turned he saw her, a shorter woman with platinum blonde hair and hazelnut dewy eyes, a white gown covering her body. It took a moment for Trey to process the woman but he quickly rushed towards her, causing her to raise her hands defensively and step back.

"Where are we!?" He shouted desperately as he grabbed her hand.

"That's how you greet me Trey? You don't even ask a lady's name before shouting at her and grabbing at her?" She responded with a gentle smile.

"Stop fucking with me!" He shouted again, and she responded by shaking her head

"I'm not surprised."

Trey stepped back and grimaced

"How do you know my name?" He questioned

"Well, why don't you know mine?" She countered his question with one of her own. Trey furrowed his brows and gritted his teeth, growing tired of this woman who was dancing around his questions and looking at him like he was a dear friend. Finally, he relented.

"What's your name then?" Trey grumbled as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"You'll have to find that out, that's why you're here, correct?" She responded folding her hands together behind her back.

"I suppose you can call it a step one of finding yourself Trey Packston!"
