LUCY
Twenty-eight days.
I mutter the number under my breath as I walk, counting it out like a curse I intend to keep sharpened for later use. Twenty-eight days until I see Caspian's face again, until I have to stand across from that infuriating, self-satisfied smile and pretend his little stunts don't rattle me half as much as they clearly intend to.
He won't touch me again without permission, I think, my jaw tightening. Or else.
My mind, unhelpfully, immediately supplies the obvious problem with that threat—Caspian is a full head taller than me and built like every other overgrown warrior in this dominion, and I am, quite literally, wolfless. With no handle over whatever powers being Dragonkk affords me.
My fists clench anyway, some stubborn, prideful part of me refusing to let a small detail like physical disadvantage talk me out of the principle of the thing.
