Chapter 4 - The Beginnings of an Idea

"Alright so what would even be the game about? It's got to have innovative mechanics to make people pay for it or else it might just flop and I'd lose my only chance."

Then David had a great idea and that was...

"Let's check what games there is here and what are their strengths and if there is a blind spot in the market!"

This seemed intuitive, but let's remember that in this world, Pokemon don't exist and in his own world it was created more than 25 years ago and affected millions of people worldwide, and if such a large number of people did something different, there could be a lot of changes, especially in the gaming industry.

"So is there any new games in this world?"

And what he saw was pretty concerning.

"Huh, there seems to be little to no games that are the same, was Pokemon really that influential? Oh, Doom is still here, that's nice i guess."

But by checking out what there was on the market he saw something interesting.

"So now VR is the new popular thing, huh? I guess with all the advancements in technology, it was to be expected."

That's right, VR was on the rise with a even bigger market share than in his own world! The greatest factor that helped this popularity was the less cumbersome size of the VR glasses and their widespread adoption due to lower prices here.

But David saw something others didn't, and that was that when others developers created their games, they used the VR glasses to try to create their own realistic world, but with all the size reduction David saw another path, something new and fresh for gamers of this realm.

"I could create my Pokemon game to be placed in the real world I'd just need to place Pokemon in here, The VR glasses should handle it, no with less stuff to render I might even be able to make it look even more real! I guess that means I found my direction, I'll create a game like Pokemon Go but with others aspects from the other games and my own ideas."

"With the massive popularity of VR glasses there should be a platform like Steam that runs for VR games right? If I can find something, I'll have resolve the problem of distribution."

But there was still one issue David hadn't solved yet.

"What about money? 10000 dollars will never be enough to develop a game of this proportion! Let's see, maybe i missed something, what do I have that is valuable?"

There was only one thing that David had and that was...

"Information!"

"If I sold something like new knowledge, maybe somebody would buy it? Alright what do I know that others don't?"

"I know! There was an earthquake in Afghanistan earlier this year! Its seems that here, it hasn't hit yet, I'll inform their government there, for a price of course, but that should be enough money for now."

"Alright let's go out, I don't want to be tracked by the Taliban, that would be bad. I'll also need a new bank account to get the money in."

"Man, I really hope this doesn't backfire on me!"
