The next day, outside Domino City's largest Duel Stadium, the scene was pure chaos—an ocean of people packed so tightly it looked like the entire city had turned out. Everyone was here for one thing: the championship match.
Staff and volunteers were drenched in sweat as they fought to keep the crowd under control.
"This is insane," one spectator muttered. "I heard last night the finals got moved here, so I rushed online to buy tickets—sold out instantly. I don't even know if there'll be any on-site tickets left."
"There should be standing tickets," another replied. "Thank KaibaCorp for this—apparently the organizers only got this venue because Kaiba Entertainment pulled strings. I heard the staff got notified yesterday to change the location, so they mobilized thousands to set up early, and they worked all night. Look at them—dark circles everywhere. They probably didn't sleep at all."
"Dude… how do you know all that?"
"My cousin got dragged in to help last night. These tickets? He gave them to me."
The first guy's eyes lit up. "Then you've got extras—sell me one. I'll pay face value."
"Double. Or no deal."
"Tch—fine! For my goddess, I'll pay!"
Kisaragi Arrives
"Beep—beep!"
A luxury car rolled up to the stadium entrance. Kaiba stepped out first—but instead of heading straight inside, he walked around to the other door and reached out to help Kisaragi as she got out.
"Kisaragi's here!!" someone screamed.
That single shout ignited the crowd. Fans surged forward in a wave—only to be stopped by a wall of security: stadium staff, guards, Kaiba's personal bodyguards, all forcing the mass back while leaving a narrow corridor toward the entrance.
"Let's go inside," Kaiba said.
"Okay." Kisaragi walked beside him, smiling and waving to the fans calling her name.
Behind them, Mokuba stuck close like a loyal shadow.
"Kisaragi-oneechan!" he said excitedly. "Today I'm going to cheer as loud as I can! With your strength, you'll definitely beat that Weevil Underwood!"
"That's a given," Kisaragi said, thumping her chest confidently. "Just wait—after I win, we'll celebrate!"
A Familiar "Accident"
Right then, a small boy was squeezed out of the crowd and stumbled—falling straight into Kisaragi.
She didn't get angry. Instead, she immediately steadied him and helped him up.
"Are you okay?" she asked gently.
"I'm fine—thank you, big sister!"
A staff member came running over, bowing repeatedly.
"I'm terribly sorry! We disturbed you both—I'll take him to find his parents immediately!"
"It's fine," Kisaragi said. "Take him back."
"Yes!" The staff member bowed again and led the boy away.
But Kisaragi's eyes narrowed slightly.
This feels… familiar.
And then it clicked—the opponent today was Weevil Underwood.
Of course.
In the Duelist Lounge
Inside the competitors' lounge, Kaiba adjusted his cuff and spoke with absolute certainty.
"Kisaragi. I'm taking Mokuba to the VIP seats. I'm not worried about the result—if you play normally, you'll take the championship."
"Yeah!" Mokuba nodded hard. "Kisaragi-oneechan beat my brother before—this title is basically guaranteed!"
"Alright, alright," Kisaragi said, waving them off. "It's getting late. I still need to tune my deck. Wait for me to come back as champion."
Kaiba and Mokuba left.
Once the door closed, Kisaragi pulled out her deck.
"As expected… he mixed in Parasite Paracide," she murmured, holding up the card with a calm smile. "Fine. Then I'll make good use of it."
She slid Parasite Paracide into place—and also inserted another card into her deck, deliberate and controlled.
The Arena Erupts
In the stadium, the announcer roared into the microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen! We have finally reached the finals of the National Duelist Tournament! After days of matches and elimination rounds, two duelists have risen above all others—and today we will crown the champion!"
The crowd answered with a thunderous response—most of it directed at one name.
"Kisaragi!!"
"Kisaragi Aoi!!"
At the far end of the arena, Weevil Underwood stood waiting to enter—and the cheers that weren't for him drew an ugly shadow across his face.
"Hmph. I'm not some nobody," he hissed. "Kisaragi Aoi, is it? Once I crush you, you'll be the laughingstock of every duelist in this city. Heeheehee…"
"Now—please welcome both duelists to the field!"
Kisaragi and Weevil emerged from opposite sides.
"Kisaragi! Beat that Weevil!"
"Kisaragi! Take the title!"
Watching From Home
At Yugi's house, the gang had gathered around the TV—Joey included.
"Kisaragi's insanely popular," Joey said, half-awed. "Feels like her winning is a foregone conclusion."
"I've seen Weevil duel," Yugi replied. "He's better than most… but only a little."
Duel Start
"Duelists—shuffle each other's decks!" the referee ordered.
Kisaragi and Weevil exchanged decks and shuffled.
"Please take care of me," Kisaragi said politely.
"Yeah… you too," Weevil replied, voice sticky with false friendliness.
They stepped onto the duel machines, set their decks, and locked eyes.
"National Duelist Tournament Finals—Kisaragi Aoi vs. Weevil Underwood! Duel start!"
"DUEL!" ×2
Weevil LP: 4000
Kisaragi LP: 4000
Weevil grinned.
"Heeheehee… I've got first turn, Kisaragi. I'll take this right away."
"Go ahead," Kisaragi said evenly.
Weevil's First Move: Emerald Dragonfly
"My turn—draw!"
"I activate the Spell Emerald Dragonfly! This card lets you choose an Insect-Type monster from your opponent's Deck and place it on top of their Deck."
He leaned forward, laughing.
"Heeheehee… go on. Pick one."
Kisaragi didn't hesitate. She calmly lifted her deck and placed a single card on top.
Weevil's eyes flickered.
She uses Fairies—why is she not surprised? Like she already knew I'd play this…
Joey frowned at the TV.
"Wait—she plays an Angel deck. Why does she even have an Insect in there?"
"Did she switch decks?" Yugi murmured.
In the VIP seats, Mokuba tugged at Kaiba's sleeve.
"Brother… I've never seen Kisaragi-oneechan use Insects. This feels weird."
Kaiba's eyes sharpened. He suddenly recalled the "accident" outside—when a boy slammed into Kisaragi in the crowd.
Understanding flashed—then hardened into fury.
"That filthy bug…" Kaiba spat. "He's using outside interference."
Weevil Builds His Board
"I Normal Summon Petit Moth in Attack Position!"
A small green caterpillar appeared on Weevil's field.
Petit Moth (300 ATK / 200 DEF)
"Next, I activate Cocoon of Evolution! I equip it to Petit Moth—its ATK and DEF become the Cocoon's values!"
The caterpillar's defense spiked behind the cocoon.
Petit Moth (300 ATK / 2200 DEF)(as applied by Cocoon)
"Then I activate the Continuous Spell Insect Barrier!"
He set one face-down card.
"Turn end! (Cards in hand: 1)"
Kisaragi Draws… and Weevil Smirks
"My turn—draw!"
Weevil's grin widened like he'd already won.
"Heeheehee… the card you just drew should be Parasite Paracide, right?"
Kisaragi's eyes narrowed.
"…That doesn't make sense. How do you know that so clearly?"
