Chapter 14: The Boss And Her White Little Lotus

"Maybe both…" she said lightly. "I just like… seeing things happen. Seeing reactions." Her tone was gentle, playful, almost childlike — but there was a spark beneath it that made Lin Qinglan pause.

Lin Qinglan's hand flexed subtly around the phone. "Reactions, huh?" she murmured, leaning slightly closer, the faintest shadow of a smile tugging at her lips. "Be careful what you wish for. Some reactions… aren't always harmless."

Yu Zixue tilted her head, feigning innocence, her fingers brushing absentmindedly along the edge of the table. "Oh? Dangerous reactions?" she whispered, soft and teasing, letting her gaze linger on Lin Qinglan's eyes, tilting it as if daring her to admit something.

Lin Qinglan's cold, forward mask faltered ever so slightly. She didn't answer immediately, letting the silence speak instead, the weight of her presence pressing subtly against Yu Zixue's playful aura. But her eyes — sharp, calculating — followed Yu Zixue's every move, like a predator testing her prey.

Yu Zixue's lips curved into a soft, sweet smile. "I like reading people," she murmured, voice gentle, almost shy. "But… I think reading you is going to be… a little more fun than usual."

Lin Qinglan's lips twitched into the faintest, ethereal smile, hiding the heat under her composed exterior. She leaned just slightly closer, her voice low, deliberate. "Be careful, Ruxue. Sometimes the flower gets picked before it's ready."

Yu Zixue's laughter was soft, airy, innocent — yet every note carried a sly undertone. "Then maybe I'll just… bloom slowly," she whispered, eyes sparkling, letting the teasing hang in the air like a promise.

Her gaze flicked down, breaking the tension with a faint, playful pout. Yu Zixue glanced back at her phone. "…And my black posts?" she asked, lips curling slightly, as if still teasing even while shifting attention.

"They're still there," Lin Qinglan said lightly, almost casual. "People love drama." But her eyes lingered on Yu Zixue a fraction longer than necessary, the subtle focus sending shivers up Yu Zixue's ribs.

Yu Zixue set the phone aside, pretending not to care, though she kept flicking her gaze toward Lin Qinglan. "…You don't think it's weird?" she asked, half - joking, half - serious. "All these comments, all this attention… and you just…" She trailed off, letting the silence stretch, teasing.

Lin Qinglan tilted her head slightly, leaning in just a fraction. "Weird?" Her voice dropped lower, intimate. "…Or inevitable?"

Yu Zixue's pulse picked up. She caught a whiff of Lin Qinglan's subtle floral perfume, clean and lingering, twisting her stomach into familiar, dizzying flutter. She masked it with a shrug. "Maybe… maybe it's just too obvious."

"You're thinking about her, aren't you?" Yu Zixue teased, soft, lips twitching. "The little delicate flower with way too much pride?"

Lin Qinglan's lips twitched faintly. Her dark eyes met Yu Zixue's, steady and unflinching, yet there was undeniable heat behind them. "She's… complicated," she said softly, voice dropping just slightly. "Not just a little white lotus. She… gets under your skin."

Yu Zixue leaned forward, a teasing tilt of her head. "Under your skin or mine?" Her smirk was mischievous, but her heartbeat betrayed her, skipping a beat. "You know… maybe I like that."

Lin Qinglan's fingers brushed the small bag of medicine, just barely touching Yu Zixue's hand. The contact was fleeting, yet enough to make Yu Zixue's chest shimmer with warmth. A soft tension curled between them — familiar, teasing, intimate, charged.

Host, host, host! Aiyu's voice buzzed extravagantly in her mind, practically rainbow - colored with enthusiasm. You are doing fantastically! Absolutely perfect! She's hooked, line, and sinker! Every glance, every micro - movement, every teasing brush of your hand is working wonders! You are the ultimate female supporting lead, clever, charming, irresistible! The heroine won't know what hit her!

Yu Zixue's cheeks warmed, but she smirked at the thought, letting her fingers linger just a fraction longer near Lin Qinglan's. Flattery noted, she murmured silently, almost giggling.

Her voice dropped low, playful, teasing. "I've always wondered… if your calm little exterior hides more than just talent."

The words lingered, soft but loaded. Yu Zixue felt the heat pooling in her chest at the faint shift in Lin Qinglan's gaze.

Aiyu squealed internally, ecstatic. Yes! That's it! Perfect! She's reacting exactly as planned! Keep it going, host!

Yu Zixue, still feigning casual curiosity, allowed a tiny, subtle curl of her lips, knowing exactly how far to push without overstepping.

Meanwhile, Aiyu's relentless, rainbow - colored cheering continued in her mind, a private bubble of encouragement only Yu Zixue could hear.

Lin Qinglan's gaze darkened, deliberate. She tilted closer, letting her eyes linger with precision. "Maybe it does," she said softly. "…Maybe you just haven't earned the right to see it yet."

The room seemed to shrink. Crew chatter, the shuffle of scripts — all vanished into background noise. Only the small, charged bubble between them remained: fingers brushing, gazes locking, subtle heat sparking from inches of space.

Yu Zixue's hand fidgeted. She almost reached for Lin Qinglan — then pulled back with a sly smirk. "Hmm… maybe I should," she murmured, teasing, dangerous. "Earn them."

Lin Qinglan's lips curved faintly. She didn't reply. Her eyes held Yu Zixue's, letting the tension stretch into something more — an unspoken challenge, invitation, and promise rolled into one.

Yu Zixue leaned back, feigning indifference, yet every inch of her body ached to lean forward, to close that small, tantalizing gap. "…You really enjoy making me think too much, don't you?" she murmured, soft, teasing. Her eyes softened, betraying the heat beneath her playful words.

Lin Qinglan let a faint, almost imperceptible chuckle escape. "Only when it's worth it," she said quietly. That soft voice carried affection, teasing, and a subtle promise all at once.

Yu Zixue grinned, the thrill of the tease coursing through her. "Worth it… huh?" Her gaze flicked up, playful, challenging, inviting.

Lin Qinglan's eyes softened, darkened, held her own in quiet intensity. The space between them hummed with possibility, electric and intimate.

Yu Zixue tilted her head, voice dropping to a teasing whisper. "…I wonder… if the domineering goddess would notice… if I leaned just a little closer."

Lin Qinglan's eyes flickered with heat, a shiver twisting along her spine, masked under a calm, collected gaze. "Maybe… she already has."

And in that charged silence, the teasing, intimate, slightly erotic tension hung between them, undeniable and electric.

Lin Qinglan's slightly raised eyebrows thickened the air between them. Her eyes, deep and passionate, carried a force that scattered Yu Zixue's thoughts, her chest fluttering with a dizzying mix of admiration, desire, and nervous energy.

Yu Zixue stared, unable to focus, at the faint curve of Lin Qinglan's lips as she smiled — a smile that could be gentle and cruel all at once. Her heart trembled. Beautiful.

Even this cold, indifferent look, framed by the perfect sweep of her lashes, made Yu Zixue feel something hot and dangerous coil low in her stomach. It was the kind of beauty that could make a person's knees weaken, a warmth that spread whether she wanted it to or not.

Yu Zixue fought to force an embarrassed, polite smile onto her lips, but her fingers trembled slightly as she swiped down the screen of her phone, trying to find proof of the black post she'd just read.
