Chapter 6 - A6

Yehezkel watched Cathalina walk away.

Sitting back, he sighed. At the back of his mind, sat the possibility of addressing the hospital visit in his schedule. Not many people knew of this visit but when it came to privately hired hands, it was inevitable.

But truly, what in God's name was the meaning of that question. Care? Affection? -and for what exactly, to get on his good side? To gain information from him?

With a short-lived knock, Lyon stepped into his office, disrupting his thoughts and inner monologue.

"You called for a schedule adjustment?"

Yehezkel nodded, waving him to take a seat.

He did so.

"Clear my schedule for the day after tomorrow and prepare the jet for Norway"

"Um, sir" Lyon hesitated, "Your meeting with one of the Altergott sisters is on that day, I remember we tried really hard to get this done"

"Ah yes" he sighed, "What time is the appointment?"

"It's an early morning appointment, around 5:30"

"Then get the jet ready by noon", "Anything else?"

"No sir"

"Then that will be all, thank you"

Lyon walked out of his office.

Lunch Break.

Cathalina headed to the cafeteria and poured herself a cup of coffee. With a soft sigh, she leaned against the counter, taking small sips.

"Tired?" Nick walked over and poured himself a similar cup as well.

She scoffed, shaking her head, "I really would like to crawl into a hole or even better -join my ancestors"

Nick chuckled, "We can't have that now, can we?" slowly, he walked over to her corner and leaned, nudging the small of her arms.

She turned to him, he flashed a smile at her, she did the same.

"Talk to me" Nick sipped on his cup.

"Genuinely" she began, "I'm sort of annoyed and at the same time embarrassed"

"Hm, sounds just like you"

Like a sudden flash, Cathalina grab unto the pinkie finger of his free hand, twisting lightly, but enough to be a threat.

"Fucking hell!" Nick crouched towards his grabbed finger, groaning under controlled breaths.

"That's what I thought". She let go. "Now, -As I Was Saying…"

He swallowed back the pain and stood up tall.

"Today" Cathalina began again, "I went to enquire about the hospital appointment with a so called, Doctor Juan"

Nick's brows furrowed in question, "Doctor Juan?"

"Did you review the schedule I sent to the team?" She turned to him.

"Nah"

"Are you trying to be funny?"

He shook his head and took a sip of his coffee, "I'd seen it before you sent it"

Cathalina grew shocked, "How? When? Why didn't you say anything?"

Nick turned to her, "It was illegal until you addressed it and made it legal so why should I have said anything?" he scoffed. "Yh, so enquiries, Doctor Juan… what happened?"

With a small shrug, she began, "I was kinda worried so I asked if he was going to be ok?"

Her eyes met Rick's as his expression grew into a shock, "You asked Lyon?"

"No" she paused, "Ye- "

"Yehezkel -fucking Fionn?" he exclaimed in a whisper with great shock.

She nodded. His expression grew into more worry than shock, like he was getting pinched.

"What did he say?"

"Get back to work"

"Urgh" Nick groaned with a pained expression.

Cathalina smiled at how dramatic he was but this really was why she could tell him stuff like this, he felt it just as much -or even much more than she did.

"Need a hug?" he went on to ask.

"Nah, just shoot me"

They went quiet, sipping.

"Why though?" he turned to her, "Why were you worried?", "Cuz if you think about it, its not really our business"

She nodded and thought quietly, taking the last sip of her coffee "I just wanted to get to know him and know how best we can help him" she paused, "Because I've noticed some things about him… He's pale, looks tired often, so I wanted to know if he was doing fine" she sighed, "I don't know, coworker concern you could say"

Nick nodded quietly, reserving his opinion.

"But he really put you in your place, damn"

"Urgh, for fuck's sake" she groaned, crushing the empty disposable cup in her hand with eyes shut tightly.

Glancing over at his watch, Nick nudged Cathalina,

"Time to head back"

She nodded and steadily, they dispersed.

BEEEP!

"Sir" Cathalina's voice echoed over the landline.

"Head over to my office for a briefing"

The line went dead and Yehezkel turned to his desktop screen, summarizing his work for the day.

Cathalina walked in,

"You called for me"

He nodded and turned his gaze to her, taking off his glasses

"I believe you saw my tomorrow event on the schedule, yes?"

She nodded,

"It's a private activity" he began, "I only require the services of two bodyguards in tomorrow's event"

Yehezkel watched as she seemed to be in thought for a short minute,

"I and my second will be present for tomorrow's event"

He nodded, she hesitated -he noticed

"Speak"

She swallowed back, "I understand it is not my place to grow concerned but I will admit that I am"

Yehezkel scoffed, leaning back on his chair as the room grew silent. He watched her for a short while and could tell she was serious but couldn't tell why.

"You can leave", "We will discuss further tomorrow"
