Drip! Drip!
Blood dripped down Ryan's body now marked with injuries as he gazed around the now corpse littered surrounding.
'This is definitely attracting more predators.' He thought as he focused his gaze back at the Varynx pack.
By now he had killed four of them which made the rest of the pack now a little hesitant to rush in.
They were still encircling him, or trying to attack least but he was actively ensuring he was facing at most two at the same time.
Although based off how much aura he had left, it was probably time for him to either settle the score with the alpha or try to escape these hunters.
Right now, he wasn't even sure if he was capable of either mainly due to the now sustained injuries.
And while he had levelled up, it still wouldn't make up the difference to beat the entire pack.
'G.A.I.A, please tell me you have something in your arsenal that can distract them for me.' Ryan said, hopeful tho not expecting much.

'Yeah, figures.' Ryan said in response as he braced himself.
'The pack is only going to retreat if I kill the alpha. And I don't know how to get the alpha to show itself. If I can then—'
Whoosh!
His thought process was interrupted as another two Varynx lunged at him, swinging their claws at his neck.
Clang!
He blocked one with his blade before ducking below the other, allowing it to hit nothing but air.
Then in the same motion, turning his blade onto it's flat side, he slid the blade off the Varynx's claw, sending it to strike the ground.
Shhk!
Then he sliced off the foot of the other as it howled in pain.
"Sorry but—"
Shhk!
Using the momentum, he spun around and sliced off the head of the Varynx as it fell lifelessly to the ground.
Growl!
The other one growled at him as it rushed him while another from the pack ran out in rage to attack.
Ryan leaped from the ground where he was at the last moment allowing the two to ram each other.
Gbum!
Ramming into eachother stunned the Varynxes for a few seconds which Ryan utilised immediately upon landing.
He rushed at them swinging his blade at full force slicing his blade through their sides from the stomach of the first one he got to all the way to it's head.
Blood splattered everywhere, all over his body but he didn't bother with it as he attacked the second one that had only barely just regained itself.
Splurt!
In one swift motion he sliced it's head off and it's lifeless body fell to the ground.
Thud!
Now, the pack was scared. Scared and angry. But they were being cautious now as he had killed seven of them now.
So they know now, that being careless would get them killed. Some of them were now even backing down at the realisation.
'Good they're scared. Now all I need do is kill the alpha and it'll all be over. They'll have to retreat.' Ryan judged as he scanned their countenance diligently.
Thump! Thump!
Loud footsteps resounded as the pack gave way allowing a single Varynx to walk past the middle.
This Varynx was a bit larger than the rest. It's horn was larger as well, so were it's claws. And it carried a certain aura to it. One that felt much more powerful than the others.
'The alpha.' Ryan concluded upon seeing the Varynx. The aura it gave off as well as it's size, coupled with the apparent reverence the other pack members seemed to give it.
All of it pointed to one thing, it was the alpha.
It walked forward until a certain distance remained between it and Ryan as it seemed to stare deep at him almost like it was staring at his soul.
Then—
Whoosh!
—It vanished, reappearing right in front of him swinging it's claws at his throat.
Clang!
Ryan barely blocked in time as small sweat beads gathered around his forehead.
'Oi oi. I almost died just now.' He thought as he continued blocking while staring at the alpha.
'Alright, time to be serious.' Ryan thought as he gathered aura around his feet, then kicked up hitting the alpha square on the chin causing his face to shoot face up.
Immediately capitalizing, he swung his sword, aiming the alpha's neck when...
...He felt a sudden dread wash over him as he immediately rolled to the side.
Crackle! Boom!
A small explosion occurred where he once stood as lightning struck the ground.
'Tch. Forgot. These beasts tend to have elemental abilities. I guess that's an alpha for you. No way it was gonna go down that easy.' Ryan thought as he stared at the alpha that had now regained itself as it stared hungrily at him.
"Haa." Ryan sighed as he thought...
