Karl happened to come out just in time to see Adelyn leaving.
Out of pure concern, he hurried over to ask her, "Sister-in-law, you're going out?"
His eyes curiously followed her back.
He had just heard yesterday that she had been really sick the night before last. Though she seemed to have gotten better yesterday afternoon, she could still stay home and rest a little longer.
He was here.
If she needed anything, he would gladly run all the errands for her.
"Sister-in-law?" he called again when Adelyn didn't respond.
He leaned to both sides, trying to catch a glimpse of her face, but with her back turned toward him, he simply couldn't see her expression.
Adelyn, on the other hand, closed her eyes, resisting the urge to turn around and smack the brat on the head.
He had done exactly what she had been trying to avoid.
When she opened her eyes again, she caught Amelia staring at her, her eyes narrowed just as they had been before.
