Chapter 25 - Phoenix Return

Shortly after the battle at sea, Phoenix returned to the ship, drenched in sea water. She hopped on, carrying something that could topple the ship over. As she glanced at her sons, Febia ran towards her and she went inside the ship.

The duo's eyes followed them and only stopped when they were out of sight. Moonlight turned his eyes to the thing Phoenix brought over. He moved close.

"Are…"

Cloud tried to say something but paused midway.

Moonlight stopped just few inches and crouched. He poked the thing and noticed it was hard. So, he added little force and it cracked.

Behind him, the footsteps of a young man drew closer. "Tetete what is this? I did not sign up for this. Ha! Little by little, I'm being converted."

"Converted? How does that concern with this? What you should be asking is if it is edible to cook or not?" A smoother voice said in the background.

"Cook, Food? Is that all you have on your mind? You pretty for nothing woman!" The man said again.

The woman chuckled. "Chef, chef, at least I'm pretty unlike you a man who has no more future ahead of him except for the kitchen. The perfect representation of a house-husband,"

The woman chuckled again and brought out a small knife. She directed it towards the dragon's body and she sighed. "Won't budge,"

The man sighs, "Knew it." Then, he shook his head. 'How are we going to this?'

"…and it's our first mission on the job. What a bad way to start, Hngh."

"Don't cry. Besides, I thought we already steeled ourselves as our hirer was an Adna. Guess logic doesn't describe them. Right at our front is a literal dragon and a dead one in fact."

"Yeh…" crippled the man's voice.

"What you doing kid?" The lady said on noticing Moonlight.

Moonlight stared at her and stayed quiet.

'The quiet type, they did say that. Besides, did…'

"Oh, Miss."

Then, Phoenix came out in a brand new piece of clothing. The man ran up to her. "A-ah…about the-skin, it's too tough for—

"Don't worry. That is not your job. I only wanted the equipments. There was no way you could do anything about it." Phoenix replied.

The man was thrilled to hear that, but tiny hint of anger slightly showed his face. "Huh…yes."

Moreover, Phoenix walked towards the lady, took the knife from her hand and said, "I will be taking this."

"Um…, this is—

"You carry it like you will do anything. Bring what I need. I will return it back eventually, and besides, if it breaks, just buy a new one." said Phoenix.

She walked to Moonlight and knelt to match his height. She inhaled and exhaled before opening her mouth.

"I saw you both haven't eaten since, so please wait. I will prepare for you the best thing you have had in your life."

Phoenix patted Moonlight head and gave a warm smile.

"Huh!" muttered Cloud.

Moonlight tilted his head. 'Huh.'

"Are you not hungry?" She asked in a worried tone. Then, she pulled closer, locked eyes with Moonlight and asked once more, "Do you?"

Moonlight narrowed his eyes to Cloud. Cloud turns away, therefore, Moonlight had to turn away and he nodded, thrice.

"Really?" asked Phoenix, her tone filled with anxiousness.

Moonlight nodded and uttered, "Yes."

"Hah, I really thought."

Worry drained from her voice as he stood up and proclaimed to feed them the best thing they have ever tested.

Moonlight breaths one of relief and prepared to leave the vicinity as quick as possible.

"Where are you going?" Cloud asked.

"To take those cookies," Moonlight replied.

Phoenix ear stood up.

Cloud then added, "Mother is about to make something unknown. Don't you want to stay?"

Moonlight narrowed his eyes to the ship. Eyes stared at them all.

"I see. What you just did may make some parents lose hope."

"Ok."

Moonlight said, while making his way inside the ship. He made a quick stop by the galley and takes a tray full of snacks up to the higher deck. On reaching, he sighs, falls to the ground to stare at night of a magnificent day.
