Chapter 11 - Life!

"Tch…"

The land split.

The landscape twisted, creating two parts, an upper and lower. Cloud did not move from where he was but Moonlight received a hefty blow from nature. He fell during the unpleasant earthquake.

"Moon…"

A voice screamed from above. It was Cloud's. He used his hands to make his voice echo even more. After half a minute of raising his voice, he stopped and sighed.

"...."

He did before diving deeper into the forest.

"Hnnnhh…"

"Uhhh…what happened?"

A boy rose from the ground, covered in tiny, massive and medium of rocks. The rocks made tiny noises as he rose up.

The lad had long-short black hair that looked mildly roughened, black eyes and a little face. He looked to be twelve, had grey long- sleeves and black trousers. His sandals seemed to be lost but he appears not worried.

"So I'm alone." He muttered.

On getting up, he dusted himself and picked his torn-down sandals. Guess I'll walk without it.

Behind him, rocks piled up from the earthquake. A mountain sized wall led way to a higher land above him. The steps were not slippery but he was too anxious to find out what was ahead of him.

Those rowls were a problem and could slow-down their advances towards the light.

Moonlight turned around the world in circles to get a better view of the area.

"At least there's no one around."

The weather was unchanging, same with the sky. It still kept that deep red glow but right now, with the trees at the top blocking half that light. The only light source was the blinding light which was their journey.

No leaves rustled, the air was thick. The new woods ahead had thicker leaves and browner branches. It felt like a cave but in the sun and the pending night. Only one star glimmered as the world falls into an unknown silence.

Moonlight sighed and headed for his next journey.

His foot sizzled as he dragged his bare-foot on the raw floor. He faces the sky again and murmured silently to himself.

The direction headed was the light in the distance. Ahead of Moonlight now, was a new savannah he will have to cross to get there.

The forest made no sound as usual. Moonlight waltzed in with full anxiousness of what is going to happen next. He crossed a wave of repeating trees and grasses that looked to pure and natural to be common.

He kept an observant eye on everything ahead of him and everything around all while on the move. The thought of Cloud passed through his head as he fully made aware of his goal and journey.

He thought, wonder what Cloud is doing?

But the loneliness still resurfaced as in this teen body, the inside was still a six year old.

There were no memories to turn to, so he gave found things to buy time. What is the world outside like? Is it a good idea to go there? Will anything come out of there? Will I regret it or like it?

"Will I have been in here if I never found that book?"

"That…book."

He wanted to get angry but the place was not the right place for that.

"Huh"

Unknown to him, he was pushed.

More precisely, he fell deeper into the forest. He turned back in the slowed time but saw only one thing. "Damn you!"

He fell by rolling beautifully. His head smashed into several platforms before reaching ground where he rest or would he?

Around, there was no more darkness, the world breath life as he could hear various sounds of life forms either through vibrations or some other way. It feels like a new dimension.

"Where am I?" Moonlight anxiously asked.

Sunlight hit the ground, blessing the world with a green glow and a wonderful smell that scented nature. The grass was green and still, the amount of trees was still absurd, except they were more-smaller than their original size.

Ahead, the light they were supposed to be in still glowed meaning he's in the same forest.

Sounds of steps drew closer causing Moonlight to hide at the branch of a tree. He readied his eyes in anticipation.

Small fluffy creatures came out from the distance. They had small hooves and four legs and had the face of a what. Two milk eyes separated by a small bridge where the nose rests and the mouth down below the end point of the face.

This creature moved in a straight line, arranged in rows and columns as they headed towards a bent pathway, separate from the pathway to the light.

Moonlight followed behind them by leaping through the trees he never knew he could climb before. He paid no thought to the fact he was diverting from his true journey.

The beasts walked a short distance to a place without trees with a small drinking lake at the end of the road. They lined in a straight file and created a small pathway using their bodies.

Soon, a different version of their species came out. It had fluffier skin and stronger hooves and by their standard looked to be the prettiest. Is it their king?

It walked slowly through the crowd that it made Moonlight think of offing them at the spot; but he waited anxiously.

It made its way, radiating a feeling of pride as it walked through. Slowly, it finally reached the lake and slowly it climbed on the brown muddy water.

Surprisingly, its body was not tainted by the mud but rather refreshed in a sense. Not long after, over half the other

Moonlight at this point was atop a tree, observing everything from the shadow. Time passed as he has forgotten his original goal. As of now, his desire was to see how everything would go.

SQRKKKKK!!!!!

In the calmness, disaster struck. The beast that entered the lake screamed in agony as the mud turned white instantly.

In the chaos, another arose from deep within the lake with an eyeball and without a mouth, tearing apart all who dipped in that sea body.

This process took half a minute and in that small time it eradicated half the population of that species. The remaining got their senses back and took to their heels, screaming the same srked towards the forest.

Moonlight watched this take place and did not feel the need to move, so he simply watched the chaos unfold. An entire race was about to be destroyed in an instant. They did run, scream but to no avail.

"Should I help them?" Moonlight whispered to himself. "If I do…I will lose the chance to observe and learn."

I wonder what Cloud would do in this situation, he thought as he pondered on what to do next. The test or their lives, he had to choose one.

At the chaos, another version of that same species appeared. Their height the size of Moonlight, lesser fluffy skin and more muscle, their face spread open more like a wolf than a friendly beast. With their appearance, things seemed to calm down a tad bit.

Wasting no time, one of them launched at the monster at the lake and dragged it out using pure force, effectively, throwing it at a certain tree in the distance.

The force was enough to decimate that tree and all that were on it.

Just then, something came down.

Moonlight smiled and waved.

"Hey there,"

The creatures turned to his direction with glary eyes. Their fists tightened as they placed their full attention on Moonlight.

Moonlight at a far end from down, right beside a cut down tree, faking a smile and voice. He's in trouble.

Moonlight mind raced, he found himself in a loop of questions. Should I run and ignore? Or should I stay and observe? If he ran, that was the smartest. But, his own mind would allow him to miss this opportunity. His survival or the test, which will he choose?
